Time CheckWith just 24 hours left to go, the countdown has now truly begun but there are still a few last minute important jobs to do…
THE BRIDE The day before * Arrange for the delivery of the cake to the venue * Treat yourself to a relaxing massage, as well as a manicure and pedicure * Lay out your wedding dress, lingerie, jewellery and shoes * Relax with a bubble bath and a celebratory glass of champagne * If staying away from home, bring something along with you to help you relax, such as your favourite book or some scented candles * Get to bed early in preparation for your day * Make last minute checks to make sure that the wedding flowers/cake/hairdresser/make-up artist know what time they need to arrive
The day of the wedding * Start the day with a healthy, filling breakfast. Porridge with fruit or eggs and toast are two good options. Try to avoid anything greasy or acidic fruit juices which may upset your stomach or cause you to feel too bloated.
* Arrange for your hairdresser and make-up artist to arrive early. If they are also doing the make-up for your mum or bridesmaids, make sure you leave plenty of time for everyone to be attended to. Allocate as much time as necessary, even if that means asking everyone to arrive three or four hours before you plan to leave the house
* Before you put on your dress, remember to go to the bathroom. Ask one of your attendants to put on your shoes and your jewellery, you don't want to make the mistake of ruining your nails at this point.
* Your veil should be the last thing which goes on. If your hairdresser is coming to your home to do your hair, ask if he can stay to secure your veil
* Remember to bring an emergency kit with you - complete with mints, deodorant, lipstick, headache tablets, hairpins and a mirror
* Leave the house, planning to arrive to the ceremony in good time
* Before the service begins, remember to move your engagement ring to your right hand, so that your new wedding band can be slipped easily onto your left.
THE GROOM The day before * Collect suits and accessories from hire company
* The day before you should also make sure the best man has all of the messages that you wish for him to read out at the reception.
* Pack for first night stay in hotel and honeymoon (if necessary), including your tickets, passport and foreign currency
* Arrange for the order of service to be dropped off at the church/registry office
* Give wedding rings to the best man
* Provide the best man with cash to pay priest/minister/registrar/organist etc
* If necessary, the night before the wedding the groom and the best man should travel to the reception venue to leave off the groom's car
* Organise the transportation of the gifts for the bridal party to the reception venue. If you plan to give your mother and the bride's mother fresh flowers, ask for them to be delivered to the venue on the morning of the wedding
* Relax and get to bed early. Avoid the temptation to over indulge on the drink. You don't want a hangover ruining your day
The day of the wedding · Have a hearty breakfast. If you are getting ready with the best man and the ushers organise for everyone to be fed. You have a long day ahead of you
