Set in the heart of the South Pacific with 333 picture perfect postcard islands surrounded by white sand beaches, coral reefs and turquoise sea, the tropical paradise of Fiji is the perfect location for your dream wedding or honeymoon.

For the more adventurous, Fiji is a water sports playground and is known as the 'Soft Coral Capital of the World', rated within the Top 10 dive destinations.
Island cruises can be enjoyed via a choice of transportation, including small luxury cruise ships, catamaran or schooner. Helicopters or sea planes allow a spectacular view of the island's mountain ranges, forest hilltops and valley villages.
Notable places to visit include Fiji's largest Hindu Temple, Sri Siva Subramaiya; The Botanical Gardens; Beqa Firewalkers, Sigatoka Sand Dunes, Suva Museum, The Arts Village cultural centre and Bouma National Park and Kula Park.
Climate
Fiji has a mild tropical climate throughout the year with mainly dry weather from May to October, with the rainy season taking place from November to April. Average temperatures hover around 25°C, however in summer can rise to 31 -32°C and in the coolest months of July and August, fall to 18°C.
Getting there
Fiji is located in the heart of the South Pacific, 3 hours flying time north from New Zealand, 4 hours from Australia and 10.5 hours from Los Angles.
Affordable flight access to Fiji has never been better. Air New Zealand (www.AirNewZealand.co.uk) code shares with Air Pacific via Los Angeles or direct via Auckland; Air Pacific (www.airpacific.com) flies direct to Fiji from Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Australia and New Zealand; Korean Air flies via Seoul. Air Pacific also flies in conjunction with Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Qantas and Cathay Pacific.
Flights from Belfast or Dublin stop off in London and Los Angeles. Passengers flying from the UK can connect via Los Angeles, Seoul, Australia, New Zealand or Hong Kong. No visas are required for British or Republic of Ireland passport holders.
Getting married in Fiji
Getting married without a hitch is a feature of Fiji. The islands require a residency period of six days, not necessarily before the wedding but for the entire stay, and a licence can be arranged on arrival. The ceremony is legal in UK law and all the required papers can be downloaded from the tourist board's website (www.fijime.com/romanceme). The bride and groom must simply turn up together and produce their original birth certificates.
The basic charge for a licence is 30 Fijian Dollars (£1 equal on average to three Fijian Dollars, subject to fluctuation).
The official side of wedding preparations in Fiji is no headache either:
Stress-free: Many resorts offer the services of a wedding co-ordinator to tailor the day to the couple's requirements, whether it is a private celebration for two, or a more extended wedding party. Fijians speak excellent English and are known for their warmth and hospitality.
Hassle-free: Ceremonies in Fiji are recognised worldwide, and there are no complicated residency laws. Collect a wedding certificate 36 hours before the ceremony by showing a minimum of paperwork. Contact your resort or holiday operator for details of what you will need.
