CACI anti-ageing facial put to the test

WJ reviews...CACI anti-ageing facial

Loved by celebs, the CACI machine offers a range of anti-ageing treatments that promise to lift and tone without the need for invasive surgery. It sounded too good to be true, so our editor Tara Craig just had to put this high tech gadget to the test...

CACI anti-ageing facial

Without giving too much away, I'm in my mid thirties and don't feel quite ready for a face lift – yet. In saying that, there's no denying that the tell tale signs of ageing are starting to make their mark, especially on my forehead which features what I like to call 'charcacter lines'. So when the opportunity came up to test out a new, non-surgical face lift, I jumped at the chance.

Destination Skin in House of Fraser, Belfast is one of only a handful of salons in Ireland to offer a range of CACI (stands for Computer Aided Cosmetology Instrument) treatments that promise to keep you looking gorgeous for years to come, without having to go under the knife!

The intense facial treatment has a huge celeb following with fans including Madonna, Linda Evangelista, Martine McCutcheon and Jennifer Lopez to name but a few. So I was going to be in good company, and I must admit I was pretty excited about my trial.

CACI has been around for over 20 years now but with new technologies and developments it has become a must have treatment for men and women world-wide who's aim is to age gracefully. It lifts, plumps and firms the skin leaving saggy skin to disappear.

The treatment room at Destination Skin

Lying back in the comfortable surroundings of the Destination Skin treatment room I was briefed for my first CACI experience. CACI uses a micro-current therapy that sends electrical pulses to stimulate and firm muscles within the face or body. Okay, but is it painful? I asked. Apparently not, I was assured.

Different settings on the machine control the strength of the currents ranging from 1-10, the objective being that you rise up through the levels as your treatments progress and your muscles strengten – think of it as a work out for your skin.

As my facial was a one off, I was thrown in at the deep end with a level five treatment, which although not painful, could certainly be felt. After just a few minutes of muscle flexing my muscles really did feel tired and 45 minutes later, once my whole face had been worked over, every muscle felt exhausted – but in a good way. I had that euphoric feeling you get when you finish a work out at the gym and my face looked flushed, radiant and dare I say it, a little less stressed.

I've no doubt that sustained use of the CACI over 10 treatments would show really positive effects and I'd recommend even one facial to anyone who feels in need of an instant pick me up before a special occasson such as a wedding.

A range of CACI anti-ageing treatments are available from Destination Skin in House of Fraser, Belfast. Telephone 0284 142 4500 for an appointment or visit www.destinationskin.com
