Lancôme's top bridal make-up artist talks Kate Middleton's wedding day look
Following the news that Kate Middleton bought Lancôme's top bridal make up products before her wedding, Benjamin Rousseau, Lancôme's national make up artist provides his top tips on recreating Kate's look...
Kate's everyday make up is natural, understated and very pretty - and it hasn't really changed that much - she has beautifully enhanced and intensified it to suit her wedding day and wedding dress, but crucially hasn't changed it too much - all her trademark looks are still there. It's really what I expected - subtle yet enhances and highlights everything that's most beautiful about her face, especially her eyes that have always been her signature.
Get the perfect bridal complexion
As you would expect Kate's skin was glowing, with a flawless light radiant foundation. Lancôme's no 1 bridal foundation Teint Miracle, is excellent for brides to give this look, it allows light from the skin to be reflected out. Shades 01 and 03 contain slightly yellow tones, which absorb light from flash photography, neutralising the complexion ensuring it is smooth and looks flawless. I love the way she has combined subtle pinky blush tones - to give her a beautiful bridal flush, and she has applied these on the apples of her cheeks, sweeping up to fantastic cheekbones. This also really compliments her chic, natural hair that she is wore half up and half down with a lovely curl at the back, but away from her face.
Wedding day eyes
I love that Kate has kept to her usual eyeliner – it's her trademark and suits her perfectly. All she has done is soften the look by blending it well into her lash line and left it strong on the lower part. This gives her eyes a lightly exotic look, and widens them, which is so important for photographs. She went for a soft smoky eyes effect and used classic timeless colour on her eyes. Keeping the brown shades and black close to the lash line, and the outer corner of the eyes, to really give a gaze to them.
She also used a lighter shade on the main eyelid up to the crease to give some vibrancy and freshness. Kate is a big fan of Lancôme Hypnose mascara. It has a fluid formula called SoftSculpt™, which allows extra 'play time' and means it's possible to build up volume, which is one of the things that Kate has done for her bridal make-up.
Wedding lips
Kate has gone for a subtle, natural nude pink colour – it's really an enhancement of her natural lip, but will always look classic and pretty no matter what the era, so photographs won't look dated.
Over all it is the ultimate bridal make up - and enhancement of her natural style.
