Wedding Hairstyles for Summer Brides
When it comes to a bride's wedding day look, hair is all important. Wedding Journal chats to wedding hair stylist Michael Quinn of Michael Quinn Hairdressing in Belfast for advice on the latest wedding hair styles for brides in 2011.
"Finding the perfect hair style for your wedding day can be daunting, but I think a great way to start looking for inspiration is by keeping a close eye on what the celebrities are doing on the red carpet.
"This time of year film and music awards are rife, so there's plenty of research to be done - look for someone whose fashion sense you admire and often you will appreciate their hairstyle too.
"For the brides who like a classic wedding day look, the Chignon remains a strong trend each season and was a favourite with Hollywood actresses at the 2011 Golden Globes. Eva Longoria chose a classic sleek style while Julie Bowen chose a messier look.
The Top Knot is another take on the classic bun and chignon and, can again be either messy or swept around in the perfect bun with smooth lines and a chic finish.
Not all brides go for up-dos as some prefer something a little more laid back – if this is you, a simple blow dry with big bouncy curls is another popular look for this season. A bonus with this style is that you don't have to worry too much about attaching a veil or head pieces as there are no obstacles to work around – Megan Fox and Anne Hathaway carry this look beautifully.
The 70s are making a huge come back on the catwalk and this has influenced bridal hairstyles too with the boho plaits and head bands. I think this will be more popular with the younger brides and maybe those having their wedding abroad.
If you are a trend setter amongst your friends and want something completely different, we have developed a wedding style which we have named 'The Helen of Troy'. This is a tousled up-do, similar to that seen on Scarlett Johansson at this year's Golden Globes – it's a soft style pulled away from the face that will show off your natural beauty.

My closing piece of advice for brides is, have a wedding hair trial well in advance of the wedding date. If you like the way it turns out, great, that's one more thing ticked off the list of things to do, if you don't, you still have plenty of time try other styles without any extra stress!"
