BEDROOM
Not just for sleeping in your bedroom should be free from any modern day distractions such as television, computers and clutter. keep it calm, clean and colourful and you’ll find it becomes a hot bed of activity.bored with your surroundings? A quick lick of paint is the fastest - and cheapest - way to add new interest. colour plays an important role in every room, but especially in the bedroom where it creates instant atmosphere.

War tones such as coral, sand or ecru create an intimate feeling; cool shades such as blue, pure white or green work well for couples looking for serenity while bold colours such as red, yellow or orange are perfect for couples who value playfulness above all. A major painting trend at the minute is to inject a dash of colour into a room by painting colour on one wall while keeping the rest of the room a neutral shade.

Colour aside, it’s the bed which is the central focus of this room and it should be dressed to impress. Choose your bedlinen carefully. many people like satin, but linen and fresh cotton are cool and comfortable and their textures are stimulating to the skin. It’s also important that your bed is comfortable. The key is not to wait until your bed is uncomfortable or damaged before replacing it – by which time your sleep quality (and sanity!) could be quite severely affected. Beds should be replaced every eight to 10 years, by which time they’ve deteriorated by as much as 75% - yet the average couple hang on to their haven of slumber for 15 years or more. Crucial to buying that fabulous new bed is some careful research and testing – so make sure you give it a good test drive in the showroom.

LIVING ROOM
Whether you like to cuddle up on the sofa to watch a dvd or you prefer to sip champagne in front of the fire, your living room is probably where you spend most of your chill-out time together so it’s crucial that it sets the right atmosphere. The right lighting can be used to enhance any occasion – illuminate your couches and armchairs with standing and table lamps and make sure you have plenty of candles. Also, consider installing dimmer switches so you always have the perfect amount of light for any kind of romantic moment. Keep your sofas large and luxurious and use plenty of soft cushions and tactile throws to create a sensual setting. Recently there been a trend towards ‘day-beds’, large lounging beds that just beg to be laid on. don’t forget to add warmth to wooden floors by throwing down a huge faux fur rug.

BATHROOM
Having a bath alone is always wonderful, but having a bath together is twice as nice. splash out on a deep sunken bath that’s big enough for two and enjoy a long leisurely soak after work. Set the stage by mounting wall sconces in the bathroom for pillar candles. from art deco styles in gleaming silver to spanish mission looks in wrought iron, you’ll find one for every décor style in most homeware stores. select aromatherapy candles in a colour and fragrance you love, scatter a few rose petals and lie back and enjoy… Cold air is a real passion killer, so keep your bathroom nice and warm with either underfloor heating or one of the fabulous contemporary radiator styles that are practical as well as being stylish.

GARDEN
There’s nothing more romantic than an alfresco dinner beneath the stars, especially if it’s in the privacy of your own garden. laying decking or a patio is a must if you want to enjoy eating outside, but it’s important to create a feeling of intimacy by transforming this area into your own private world. The careful positioning of a few potted plants and ferns can give your patio a lush, private feeling. remember to consider fragrance as well as colour and textures. Herbs like thyme and rosemary, lavender or sweetly scented sweetpea and jasmine are all wonderful choices.
