HIDDEN GEM OF A WEDDING VENUE

Wedding Journal Online reviews wedding venue, Lisloughrey Lodge Country House Hotel in Mayo.

Lisloughrey Lodge is one of Ireland's secret gems - hidden away in 10 acres of mature woodlands and bordered by the beautiful Lough Corrib. Warm hospitality is all part of the charm at Lisloughrey and visitors experience this instantly upon entering the traditional country house. Staff are extremely friendly escorting myself and my partner to our fabulous suite, which was to become our luxurious home for the weekend, complete with breath-taking views over looking the Lough.

Lisloughrey Lodge Country House Hotel

Our suite, like all the bedrooms at Lisloughrey Lodge, was individually-designed and equipped with all the latest facilities. Super-king sized beds, with goose down duvets and pillows, bespoke furnishings and the latest flat screen TVs are featured throughout, while bathrooms boast under-floor heating and exclusive products by L'Occitane en Provence. There are also a number of suites located in a courtyard setting linked to the Main House with 50 rooms in total (26 suites and 24 deluxe rooms).

After settling into our suite we headed down to Malt (the main bar/restaurant) and in true Irish style savoured a pint of Guinness and pondered over our next move.

In keeping with the hotel and its easygoing pace, we chose to embark on a relaxed itinerary. We decided to try out the world-class cuisine in the unique setting of the Lodge's Salt Restaurant, which is situated on the first floor of the original house and has been authentically restored offering intimate little nooks and crannies to enjoy an exceptional, modern Irish menu strong on fresh local ingredients.

The food met all our expectations, with even my partner's discerning palate satisfied. He alluded to his meal as ‘the best he has ever eaten'. I was in agreement. The delicious food was complemented by a fine wine list and a professional yet friendly service.

Lisloughrey Lodge is the ideal location for those who wish to unwind, but it is also the perfect setting for a fairytale wedding. With two excellent venues available for brides and grooms, Lisloughrey can accommodate intimate affairs in its Junior Harbour Room, which caters to 30 guests or for those who want a more lavish affair, its Harbour Room seats 180. The Lodge also holds a licence allowing it to host civil ceremonies while its one wedding per day policy ensures brides have exclusivity.

With stunning views over the Lough and impeccably manicured lawns - the surroundings of Lisloughrey, when the weather permits, can accommodate an idyllic outdoor drinks reception while setting the scene for your photography.

Talented chef Wade Murphy can create a flavoursome wedding menu with tasting opportunities available four to six weeks prior to your big day. This also allows brides and grooms to pick from a selection of wines to complement their meal.

The average price for a wedding is €119.00 per person and €129.00 per person peak season. This is an all-inclusive package, which includes sparkling wine or mulled wine reception; tea, coffee, homemade cookies, delicious canapés. A wedding banquet which includes soupçon, choice of starter, choice of main course, dessert tasting plate and tea and coffee alongside two thirds of a bottle of wine per person with three whites and three reds to choose from and the toast drink - pink sparkling wine and late night snacks. What's more your wedding party can enjoy a truly personal and private wedding as both these packages ensure exclusivity of the entire hotel during the course of the wedding.
