Stags Prefer an Experience to a Traditional Boozy Weekend A new poll has revealed that 1 in 2 grooms would rather spend the day doing an adventurous activity such as paintballing, white water rafting or mountain climbing than the traditional boozy weekends away, and 68% have already ditched the weekend in Faliraki for a more fun physical activity. 68% of the 1,868 Stags asked across the UK stated they have opted for paintballing or rock climbing on their Stag weekend, best men choose adventure weekends instead of the traditional weekend abroad because they said they felt ‘fed up' with the traditional lad's weekend away. Of the remaining 32% surveyed, 51% of them said that they would like to experience something fresh on a Stags weekend away and do an outdoor activity such as rally driving or gorge walking. Although the tradition of a night out on the town proved to be popular, Stags are starting to do a fun activity during the day and then go out together in the evening. Having dads, brothers and uncles at the Stag party is important, 82% of Stags said that one of the reasons for booking an experience day was because it can be enjoyed by all age groups and everyone will enjoy the adventure. When asking the best men why they decided to take their friends on a activity day out they said the ‘letting off steam is just what the Groom needs before the big day' it was largely felt that a weekend consuming alcohol abroad was ‘unimaginative' and that ‘the Groom should be put first.' 22% of men have been taken paintballing on their Stag weekend and 9% have been taken on a water sporting activity such as white water rafting. Rock and mountain climbing was also popular among those surveyed with 13% having spent the day doing it on their Stag party. Research was conducted by www.intotheblue.co.uk
