DUBLIN 15-17 January, Citywest

Our first event of 2010 was a resounding success with thousands of excited brides-to-be and their fiancés, friends and family, all flocking to the new Citywest Convention Centre for Ireland's largest bridal exhibition.

There was a great buzz in the hall the whole weekend as exhibitors showcased their latest offers to the captivated audience. It was a bargain bonanza for visitors to the show who were able to avail of a host of special offers, competitions and exclusive show discounts.

Caroline Mussen - winner of Wedding Journal's Cover Bride comeptition with her fianceIt was an extra special weekend for Caroline Mussen, the winner of Wedding Journal's Cover Bride competition who made her debut catwalk appearance at the show on Friday.

"I've had the most amazing day." she said. "Working with the choreographer and models has just been a dream come true, it's been so exciting, I can't wait to do it all again in Befast."

As part of her prize Caroline won a stunning Justin Alexander wedding dress and it was one of their designs that she modelled at the show. Caroline will also be treated to a professional photoshoot in February and will grace the cover of the summer issue of Wedding Journal magazine.

The excitement continued on the Saturday afternoon when the ten finalists for the 'win a celebrity-style wedding worth €30,000' competition took to the stage. The competition ran in association in with The Wedding Journal Show on Dublin's 98 for three weeks and the live final was hosted by the breakfast crew DJ's Dermott and Dave who entertained the crowds with a comedy duo act before introducing the finalists.

Susan Doyle and her fiancé Niall Staunton were the overall winners, walking away with a wedding reception at Castleknock Hotel & Country Club, a honeymoon with Celebrity Cruises, room transformation by Enchanted Occasions and a wedding gown from Ian Stuart Bride.

Susan was so shocked to have won that she collapsed on stage in flood of tears - of happiness of course!

Sigma wedding books - winners of Best Stand in DublinBest Stand award went to Sigma Wedding Books for creating an uber stylish setting in which to present their new photography package which was officially launched at the show. The stand looked great and was packed all weekend with the staff working their boots off, so congratulations to them.

Talking about the award Rory from Sigma said: "I am absolutely chuffed to bits to pick up this award. It's the icing on the cake, we were having a spectacular show anyway, but this makes it even better. This is our first time exhibiting at The Wedding Journal and it exceeded all our expectations."

Style stage host Sonya Lennon with two make-over bridesTwo new show features were introduced for 2010, both of which proved to be real crowd pleasers. Located in the centre of the hall, The Irish Daily Mail Style Stage was unmissable and drew crowds of people throughout the weekend who watched in wonder as the style team, hosted by Sonya Lennon carried out top-to-toe transformations on brides-to-be and mothers of the brides. Hair and make-up demonstrations also ran on stage over the three days, providing top tips and inspiration for brides.

A show of a different kind could be seen at the Champagne Bar where the skilled San-Greal bartenders did an impressive Tom Cruise impression as they created a selection of cocktails and served champagne to visitors who wanted to celebrate the occasion with a glass of bubbly. We'll drink to that!
