The big wedding dress search is both exciting and daunting, which is why we’ve gathered some advice from top bridal boutique La Bella Sposa in Dublin who help countless brides to find their dream dress.

Aíne Delaney from La Bella Sposa lets us in on what styles brides are obsessing over at the moment and what you can expect to see in the next coming months.
What’s hot right now
“Bell sleeves are very big at the moment as well as 3D floral detailing on dresses, and shimmer and sparkle also – they are the three major trends right now and they’re going across the board from the beautiful A-lines to the fit and flares and the fishtail gowns,” she says.
“They’re all having those details now whereas before it used to be just the bigger dresses having sparkle – now it’s all of them.

“Colour is also huge! The nudes and blushes in bridal are done very softly so I feel that, because of that, brides are taking more of a chance with colour and are going for big graphic details. Bell sleeves and detachable sleeves are what I’m seeing especially.
“In the structured gowns for the plain and minimalistic bride, girls are going for detachable sleeves with graphic cuts like wider plunges and capes. If you look at the likes of Pearl from Enzoani, you can detach the longer train and cape and it is a fabulous dress that comes in three parts.”

What’s to come
La Bella Sposa have also just secured a range of new designer dresses from Martina Liana and Essence of Australia which brides can expect to see in store from September.
Aíne continues: “We’ve got lots of new Martina Liana and Essence of Australia dresses coming in around September onwards which is very exciting. We are also hoping to start up trunk shows again as soon as restrictions allow and designers are doing them.
“We will also have a designer sale day around September time too so keep your eyes peeled for more details to come!”

Finding ‘the one’ at La Bella Sposa
Aíne gives us a quick rundown on how brides can find their dream dress and get prepared before coming into the store with some expert wedding dress shopping tips.
“My biggest tip is to be prepared and to create your wish list,” Aíne explains.
“We provide a wish list on the La Bella Sposa website and I always suggest brides have a look on there before coming in and take their time choosing which dresses speak to them.
“This can help them think about things like shapes, necklines and styles that are their favourite. That doesn’t mean that this is all they’re going to try on but helps the bride and us know what they’re loving before they even come through the door.”

“I would also say to keep an open mind when coming in as it’s great to know what you want but sometimes you may find your perfect dress is a style you didn’t expect when you try it on – so it’s always good to stay openminded.”

Aíne also says brides should bring along their heels that are the same height as their wedding shoes to make sure the length of the dress works for them.
She says: “Another tip is to bring a pair of shoes with the same heel height that you want to wear on the day so you know that the length is just right for you.

“I have also had brides who are borrowing jewellery or have their accessories already, bring them into the store to try on with the dresses. It’s not essential but if you have something you’re set on wearing, it can be good to bring it along and it helps us pick dresses that match.
“Lastly, always give yourself enough time and don’t leave it to the last minute – this doesn’t just go for wedding dress shopping, but also bridesmaid dresses and make sure you think about things like delivery and alterations which we also do in store.”
