‘My beautiful flowers were by Triona Ball, the owner of Triona Flower Ball, and she was incredible. Triona came up with the idea of having white Cherry Blossom trees along the aisle, a rich coloured flower arch over the entrance, my bouquet was a wild free style bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets were white baby’s breath and the buttonholes were a simple white avalanche rose with baby breath detail. I cannot recommend her enough.’
After an intimate ceremony at St. Bridget’s Church, Co. Kildare, family and guests were all invited to a spectacular reception at Seafield Hotel & Spa, Wexford. Suzie had a vision for her special day, ‘I wanted it to to be a black tie affair, the Seafield Hotel was perfect for us, it had everything we wanted and more, couldn’t recommend the team and staff enough.’
Décor was kept simple and chic, with classic tones of black, white and rose gold in the finishing touches throughout the reception suite.
WHAT THE BRIDE WORE & THE REST…
Suzie visited the fabulous team at McElhinneys , Ballybofey, Co.Donegal for her dream wedding dress.
‘My dress was a Lorelei embroidered tulle ballgown by Hayley Paige, I had randomly seen it on Say Yes To the Dress, and I knew right there and then I had to find it. After googling for suppliers I found McElhinney’s, so we took the trip up to Donegal and there it was; I knew as soon as I tried it on, this was the one.’
Horsehair trim adds crisp definition to the flourish of ruffles on Suzie’s billowing ballgown, topped with a barely there illusion bodice enlivened with bead-sparked embroidery.
For bridesmaid dresses, Suzie opted for a less traditional but stunning look, ‘I know black wouldn’t be everybody’s choice for a summer wedding but I love it. I found TNFC London dresses to be great quality material, I went with a Maxi length Grecian style dress, with a pleated finish and spaghetti straps.’
EATING & DRINKING
Suzie and Greg booked FizzBizz.ie as a mobile Prosecco van for our guests to enjoy a glass of bubbly on arrival.
‘Stephanie Millar, our wedding co-ordinator created a bespoke menu to suit our budget and was perfect for the summer weather.’
Starter – Kilmore Smoked Salmon & Baby Caper Fishcake, Crab Mayonnaise and Lemon Gel
Sorbet – Greg & Tonic (because he makes the best Gin & Tonics)
Main – Wexford Beef Fillet Medallions, Horseradish Gratin, Baby Vegetables, with a Shallot & Thyme Jus
Monkfish wrapped in Pancatta, Sticky Wings, Scalloped Potato, Pak Choi, with a Chilli Coriander Soy Dressing
Dessert – Seafield Assiette
‘The menu, food and staff were incredible, it was one of my highlights from the day,’ describes Greg. Their two tier cake was made by Allison, the owner of Bouquets and Buttercream based in Taghmon co.Wexford. Susie recalls ‘her prices were affordable, with plenty of designs to choose from. She even delivered the cake to our hotel so we didn’t have to worry.’
CAPTURING THE DAY
Suzie and Greg stumbled upon Rob from Rob O’Neill Photography is a rather unusual way. Suzie’s hair stylist Ellen Stewart owner of Salon 49 in Rathcoole recommended Rob, ‘she didn’t need to convince me, I took a look at her own wedding album and the photographs spoke for themselves. We love our album; the photographs show how much fun and laughter we had all day.’
When asked for to share their favourite moments, these newlyweds found it difficult to pick just one.
Suzie chose her photo shoot with Rob as a particular highlight; ‘our photographs taken in the woodlands beside the hotel was lots of fun.’
Whereas Greg enjoyed the car ride from the church to the Seafield Hotel; ‘it was a chance for us to unwind after the ceremony and take a breather before the big party.’
