Eating & Drinking
The resort’s chef has designed a menu inspired by Arabic, Indian, Persian, Asian and Swahili flavours using the local spices for which the island is famous. Every evening features a different influence showcasing the islands produce and spices.
The Sultans Dining Room is the main restaurant for evening dining and the food served alternates between buffet and table d’hote. Before and after dining here enjoy a cocktail in the Dhahabu Bar & Lounge.
Breakfast is served in the open-air Livingstone Terrace, and dinner can be enjoyed here too on certain nights of the week.
Sebule is the lunch restaurant open between 12:30 to 2pm. offering a wide selection of chef’s daily specials, traditional light fayre, pizza of the day and salads.

Things To See & Do
For honeymooners looking to try wind surfing, kite surfing and sailing on the Indian Ocean, the Water Club is the hotel’s water sports centre located just a few meters from the Baraza beach-front directly on the award-winning Bwejuu Beach.
Perhaps you fancy going on a reef safari. On low tide a qualified guide will walk you out to the spectacular Indian ocean reef full of corals and marine life.
You can also sail a Swahili dhow/Ngalawa on the Indian Ocean. The hotel has a traditional dhow and you can join an experienced Zanzibar seafarer in sailing the dhow to the Mchamvi Mangroves and Peninsula.
Find you inner child and learn to climb a coconut palm and learn to weave palm leaves and make a hat or mat for a memory of Zanzibar.
Cooking classes are also organised regularly where you can learn to prepare some classical Swahili dishes with the help of the excellent Baraza chefs who talk about the local spices and their use and importance.
Visit the local village of Bwejuu and see how Zanzibaris shop, live and work. See the school, a typical house and walk around accompanied by a guide who is from the village. You will have a soda at the local kiosk and see the goings on in Bwejuu.
During your stay you will also get to see traditional Swahili dancers and singers and the hotel’s Taarab band plays music that would have been heard in the Court of Sultan bin Said in 1880.
