But bearing this all in mind, it is important to get your planning hat on early and begin thinking about how you want your big day to be. There is so much to consider, will you get married at home or abroad? Do you want an intimate or large wedding? Who do you invite? What kind of dress will you wear? There are so many decisions to be made but fear not! Here are our tips for planning your big day after getting engaged over the festive period!

Make A Plan

If you are the type of person who has had their wedding planned since childhood, then wedding planning will be a lot easier! If you’re not and unsure where to start, the next few months will involve researching venues, bridal boutiques, thinking about colour palettes, themes and everything else in between! Try not to feel too stressed, you will have your spouse to be and family by your side to help guide you and remember your wedding should be the way you want it to be.

Design A Budget

Naturally, one of the most stressful aspects of planning your wedding is working out your budget.

There is always one half the couple is who more money-savvy and you will need to work money matters out together, determine you can splurge on while pulling your purse strings in! Creating a realistic budget early on is crucial and sticking to it even more so.

Determine Your Wedding Size

Whether you decide to keep things small and intimate, being on the same page as your partner is important. You will need to have a rough aspect of guest numbers and think carefully you really want at your wedding. We understand how complicated families can be so it’s worth thinking about seating plans and how everyone will interact with each other.

Get Inspired

Yes, that means whipping out the Pinterest boards online and researching potential themes. How do you want your wedding to look? What colour do you want your bridesmaids to wear? Do you want to keep things elegant and classy or go for a more free, boho vibe? Researching themes online and creating mood boards will help visualise how your big day will look and what you want and don’t want.

Choose Your Bridal Party

A tough but important aspect to think about, how many bridesmaids and groomsmen do each of you want?

There are many things to consider such as having odd or even numbers, a maid of honour, best man, etc. No matter what, you will need to discuss these things before you pop the question to any friends. Choose wisely!

Take A Breather

Planning a wedding is a huge deal and it’s totally natural to feel a little overwhelmed at first. Remember that wedding planning can be an enjoyable experience and it’s important you take some time to relax during the planning process.
