Britain’s tennis superstar, Scotsman Andy Murray and Kim Sears finally wed at Dunblane Castle and it’s an ace for Murray!
In what could only be described as a ceremony which engulfed the town in festivities, Andy Murray finally wed his long-term girlfriend Kim Sears, who has been a steady fixture at all of his professional matches since they met at the US Open in 2005.
The young couple announced their intention to wed in November 2014 and opted for a short six-month engagement before getting married. Considering the pair have been in a solid relationship for over ten years it was hardly a surprise to see them forgo a long waiting period!
While the groom chose traditional Scottish attire for his nuptials, Kim Sears created a dramatic fairytale look for her big day in a beautiful, princess-style Jenny Packham wedding dress. The dress featured a low-cut neckline which was emphasized by intricate diamante detailing on the clinched waist and ended with a full, floating skirt. Sparkling elbow-length sleeves completed the dress, and her silver-strappy heels were rumoured to be by none other than bridal and celebrity favourite, Jimmy Choo.
Her hair, which is one of Kim’s defining features, was scraped back off of her face by a detailed headpiece featuring clusters of diamonds and pearls. It then cascaded down her back in flawless, loose waves decorated by a low-hung wedding veil.
Kim’s bridesmaids all wore flattering, pale pink dresses, but it was Andy Murray’s mum, Judy, who wowed the crowd in her less than traditional choice of a white mother of the groom outfit! Decorated with nude accessories and a wide grin, the tennis star’s mum, who rose to fame on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014, looked fabulous in the white coat which featured a belt to clinch in her waist and create a stunning silhouette. Topped off with a hat by milliner William Chambers, she couldn’t have looked prouder on her son’s big day.
Once the 45-minute ceremony at Dunblane Cathedral was finished, Andy Murray and Kim Sears greeted the masses of well-wishers outside before heading to Cromlix House for their wedding reception. The £1.8million property is owned by the tennis star and is seeped in traditional Scottish heritage- the perfect complement to the pair’s very Scottish nuptials!
Earlier in the day Andy had tweeted his plans for his wedding day through the very modern use of emojis and they implied that his wedding would be full of love, beauty preparations, cake, and of course- booze!
Meanwhile the townspeople of Dunblane continued to celebrate long after the ceremony, with many decorating their storefronts and windows to send well-wishes to the famous couple. The crowds turned out in full force despite the questionable weather and were keen to see the local sportstar finally wed Kim.
We couldn’t be happier for the long-term couple, who have stood united at many a tense tennis match over the years!
