Looking for a soulful musician who can perform at your ceremony and venue?

Make sure you meet Zoe McCann Music at the Wedding Journal Show! We caught up with singer and musician, Zoe to see what she is most looking forward to at the show.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m a Belfast-based singer and guitarist who provides music for weddings, funerals and church services. I’m the resident singer at St Matthew’s Parish Belfast in Short Strand and it was through my church singing that I started getting asked to sing at weddings and other events. As well as performing, I write my own songs and I have an album of original material coming out this autumn. My style has been described as Eva Cassidy meets Dana, which I’m pretty happy about!

I sing a mixture of hymns, folk and pop and I try to bring a stripped-back, sweet, soulful, Celtic-infused sound to the weddings I sing at. I consider it a huge honour to be asked to sing at someone’s wedding and I’m always happy to suggest appropriate songs or even learn a new piece of music for a couple’s big day.

Tell us about how you started getting involved with the Wedding Journal Show and how it’s been so far?

I booked a stand at the Wedding Journal Show for the first time this year after seeing how it helped my friend to generate bookings for her string quartet. I’ve found the process positive so far, in that staff have been approachable and quick to answer any questions I have, and I’m looking forward to participating in the show.

Could you explain a bit more about what you specialise in and what makes you different from others?

I specialise in music for wedding ceremonies. I’m a bit different from a lot of other wedding singers in that I offer a stripped-back, acoustic, Celtic-inspired vibe: it’s just me and my guitar, and the beauty of my music lies in its purity, its simplicity and its soulfulness. My style will appeal to brides who are looking for a singer who can make the hairs on people’s arms stand on end and bring a tear to their guests’ eyes!

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I’m looking forward to getting the chance to meet brides and grooms and have a bit of craic with them. I’m a sucker for romance so I like nothing better than a good proposal story.

What can brides expect this year?

Brides can expect live performances, samples of my previous work and a sneak preview of my debut album, as well as being drawn into in-depth conversations about important topics like dresses and cakes that have nothing whatsoever to do with my business…

How have you seen the bridal industry change over the past couple years?

I’ve only recently started working in the industry so I can’t really comment on this but I’d say there’s a lot less pressure on couples now to do things a certain way and a greater drive towards individuality and uniqueness in terms of people’s choices for their big day.

Why should any couples go to your stand on the day?

Couples should come to my stand because anyone who makes a booking on the day will get a discount of 25%. They should also come along for a chat because I love talking to people and they’ll get a chance to hear live versions of some of their favourite songs.

What will you be able to provide on the day?

I’ll be providing live performances, videos of previous performances and VIP access to my debut album which is coming out this autumn. I’ll also be offering a 25% discount to anyone who books a package on the day.

If you could sum up your store in three words, what would it be?

Sweet, soulful singing.
