Champagne Towers – A Reception Must-Have in 2025

Champagne Tower

Champagne towers have been flagged as one of 2025’s wedding trends and they’re sure to add a luxe touch to your wedding reception.

‘While timeless, we have definitely seen a rise in the number of champagne towers being requested as they enjoy their moment in the spotlight,’ comments Chris Rooney from Champagne Memories. ‘They are definitely an elegant additon and add something a little unexpected.’

‘Not to downplay the wedding cake, but a lot of couples are choosing a champagne tower instead of a cake cutting moment,’ adds Chris. ‘In part this is because the photo and video opportunities to be had from it offer more drama and the ‘wow’ factor. It’s always nice to get some shots before and after the champagne is poured and the ‘first sip of champagne’ as a married couple, too.’

A champagne tower is a sure-fire way to create a spectacle – so, if you want something memorable, then serving your bubbly in this extravagant way will certainly offer an amazing experience for you and your guests to enjoy.

Although as Chris points out, ‘When it come to serving your guests, we wouldn’t advise doing this from your champagne tower, basically because it’s expensive to do so. We would recommend a tower of glasses with two bottles of champagne for the bride and groom to pour, get their photo opportunity and then have a glass themselves. The rest of the guests can be served a glass of Prosecco that is usually included within your wedding package. Otherwise you are paying for more bottles of Champagne and also for any lost or broken glasses used by guests from your tower, so it can all stack up.

Speaking of breakages, we have seen a few champagne tower disasters shared on social media, and wanted to know if this was a common occurence?

‘It is a delicate construction, especially the bigger it is,’ says Chris. For this reason we do encourage couples to pour sooner rather than later in the day, ideally at their drinks reception or before the speeches if these are taking place pre-dinner.

When it comes to the size of tower itself, it’s not just the stability that determines the size of it, but also the height of the bride and groom. As Chris points out, ‘If the tower is too high, not only will the couple not be able to pour, but you won’t be able to see their faces in the photographs.’

So, how easy is it to do yourself? ‘Wedding venues won’t be keen on having DIY champagne towers,’ advises Chris. ‘There is the risk of breakages, plus they like to have a tray below the table it’s sitting on to catch any surplus champagne to avoid damage to their flooring. By the time you buy all that is needed, stress about it working on the day, it’s better to simply hire a professional service and have peace of mind on the day.’
