Built in 1836 Killeavy Castle is the jewel in their 350-acre Estate.

Purchased by Mick and Robin Boyle in 2013, this derelict castle threatened collapse.  With a three-year restoration of Killeavy Castle, and the build of our boutique hotel in the Estate’s former Mill and Coach House, they opened in 2019.  Killeavy Castle Estate is a leader in sustainable tourism in Northern Ireland and their farm and woodlands play a vital role in their daily mission.

Their restored Castle is the centrepiece of their weddings, with its exclusive hire, including reception rooms and Castle pavilion, plus the four Castle guestrooms for the wedding party to enjoy.

We decided to catch up with Killeavy Castle Estate to see what they have in store for our brides and grooms at the Wedding Journal Show.

Tell us about how you started getting involved with the Wedding Journal Show and how it’s been so far?

This is our first Wedding Journal Show, and we are truly excited to take part.  We are looking forward to speaking with other exhibitors and of course meeting the wedding couples.

Could you explain a bit more about what you specialise in and what makes you different from others?

We offer exclusive hire of our Castle for our wedding couples, with a one wedding per day policy, allowing them be Kings and Queens for the day.  Our Castle and pavilion are set aside from our main hotel, giving an exclusive space for the wedding celebrations.

Situated in 350 acres we have a plethora of stunning photo opportunities, from our woodland, walled garden and of course Killeavy Castle itself.

Our farm to fork ethos is reflected in our wedding banquet, allowing our wedding couples and their guests to have the very best of our local produce to enjoy on their wedding day.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

We are most looking forward to assisting our wedding couples in creating their dream wedding day.  A wedding day is one of the most important days of a couple’s life, and so being able to be a part of it is just fantastic.  Every couple is different and so it is lovely to see how each wedding is unique to them.  From enquiring, booking, planning and organising to the wedding day itself, it’s wonderful to be a part of this process.

How does the show help develop your company?

Being a part of the wedding industry and talking with like minded people.  We are also excited to meet with new couples and find out about their future wedding plans.

What can brides expect this year?

This year wedding couples can expect an increase in the non-traditional wedding elements, such as party games, surprise dinner entertainment in the form of singing waiters, or themed weddings.  There will be plenty of wedding exhibitors who are offering these unique elements to couples to ensure their wedding day is a beautiful personal representation.

How have you seen the bridal industry change over the past couple years?

Over the last few years there has been an increase on travel and a bigger emphasis on honeymoons.  Especially with the recent years of restrictive travel, couples are now excited to splurge on a fantastic honeymoon abroad.

Why should any couples go to your stand on the day?

Killeavy Castle Estate offers a luxurious experience, were family and friends can come together to celebrate your wedding day. Our weddings are stunning, not just for the sake of stunning, but unique and enticing at every turn. We offer a private use if our Castle and Pavilion for the wedding couple and everyone can enjoy a delicious wedding banquet celebrating the finest of our local produce.

Only one hour from either Belfast or Dublin, and accommodation onsite we are the perfect place for your loved ones to come together to celebrate. Be part of an enriching wedding experience at Killeavy Castle steeped in sentiment, love, and magic.
