National Museums have 3 amazing museums across Northern Ireland which cater for both ceremonies and receptions. There are spaces of all shapes and sizes across each of their museums, each with distinct appeal. They love hosting weddings and can match couples with a venue and wedding type that reflects their personal style.
We decided to catch up with them prior to the show to see what is in store at their stand!
Tell us about how you started getting involved with the Wedding Journal Show and how it’s been so far?
Our first time showcasing at Wedding Journal Show was just last year. We found the weekend to be a great way of getting our name out there. So many people came up to the stand saying ‘I never knew you could get married at the museum!’
Attending the show lets couples know that there are more unique options for them in terms of venues for their day.
Could you explain a bit more about what you specialise in and what makes you different from others?
Hosting your wedding at a museum means there is built-in entertainment for your guests to enjoy. While you and your wedding party are posing for pictures post-nuptials, your friends and family can tour the exhibits before your evening meal.
A museum tends to be an extremely fun location for photographers to use their imagination, think outside the box and use the uniqueness of a museum to their creative advantage. If you are looking for unique wedding photos, a museum is that treasure. Interested in getting photos with a dinosaur? What about a 1900’s sweet shop, in historic cars, besides classic artwork, among million-year-old fossils, or among cool gallery exhibits? All this is possible.
Our museums host not only weddings but many events, seminars and functions throughout the year, which means that you’ve got a group of people who know what they are doing. Our museum staff are knowledgeable and friendly because customer service is of the utmost importance to everyone who walks through our doors.
We can accommodate Big and Small Weddings. Our museums have a variety of ceremony and reception options for your special day that can accommodate an intimate or grand wedding.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
As always….talking to couples!
How have you seen the bridal industry change over the past couple years?
We have definitely seen a rise in the number of couples who don’t want the standard wedding package. Weddings have become much less formal and couples want the choice of types of ceremonies, locations, outside space, entertainment and timings. At our museums we know one-size doesn’t fit all and we will work with couples to help create their perfect day, their way.

What will you be able to provide on the day?
Our Wedding Team will be on hand to answer questions about hosting your wedding at any of our 3 venues. We will be showcasing our new wedding videos so couples can get a real feel of what it’s like on your wedding day. Couples are welcome to take away our brochure and read up on what makes a wedding with National Museum NI so unique. There will be also be some surprise gifts up for grabs!
