The team at Tait Young Wedding Photo & Film answer some common questions when it comes to booking the team to capture your special day…
How do I know what photography/videography style is right for us?
‘When it comes to capturing your wedding day, the style of photography and videography you choose can completely shape how your memories are preserved. It’s not just about what’s captured — it’s about how it feels when you look back on it.
‘Choosing the right style isn’t about what’s trendy — it’s about what feels right for you. When you find the style that makes you say – “That’s so us,” you’ll know you’re on the right track.’

Do I have to hire you for both my photography and videography?
‘While we absolutely love capturing the full story through both film and photo, it’s definitely not a requirement. We regularly work alongside other photographers when we’re booked for film only — and it works really well!
‘If you’ve already booked a photographer and only want film, or vise versa we don’t need to have worked together before. The truth is, when you’re dealing with professionals everyone knows their role, there’s mutual respect, and we always make a point of communicating clearly throughout the day to make sure things run smoothly for you.
‘At the end of the day, it’s all about making sure your day is captured beautifully — no stress, no clashes, just good vibes.’

Are we right to be concerned about the intrusion a photographer and videographer might bring on the day?
‘In honesty it’s something we get asked quite a bit — especially when couples hear we use multiple cameras!
‘The short answer is: yes, we do use a few cameras to capture different angles and moments — but we’re super discreet in how we work. Our whole style is really natural and low-key. We’re not about staging every second or standing in the middle of the aisle — we blend into the background and let the day unfold naturally.
‘Most of the time, people don’t even realise we’re filming or snapping away — which is exactly how we like it! That’s how we get those relaxed, genuine shots of your guests laughing, the little in-between moments, and all the emotion without anyone feeling awkward or “on camera.”
‘It’s the couples day, not a film set — we’re just there to quietly capture it all so they can relive it forever.’
Would you recommend a trial run prior to the wedding? An engagement shoot for example?
‘Engagement shoots are a great way for you and your photographer to get to know each other — they help you feel a bit more relaxed in front of the camera, and we get a chance to see how you interact as a couple. That said, if you’d rather skip it, it’s definitely not a must-have!
‘We usually find that a couple of chilled video calls before the big day can work just as well. It’s a great chance to chat through your ideas, hear what you’re planning, and get a feel for your vibe — so that by the time the wedding rolls around, we’re already on the same page.’

What should we expect to pay for photography and videography? And can packages be customised to accommodate our budget?
‘Your wedding really is one of the biggest days of your life, and once it’s all over, the memories (and how they’re captured!) are what you’ll look back on forever. That’s why choosing the right photo/video team is so important.
‘Honestly, when it comes to this kind of thing, you really do get what you pay for. Our best advice is: don’t just go by price. Have a proper look at what’s actually included, check out full examples of work (not just the highlights!), read real reviews from couples, and get a feel for the style and the people behind the camera — because you’ll be spending a lot of your day with them!
‘We offer film only, photo only, or a combo of both — and there’s a solid discount when you book the full package. Our style is to keep things simple and transparent: one fee for full-day coverage — from morning prep right through to about an hour after your first dances. None of this “add-ons” or hidden extras stuff — just full coverage, beautifully done.’
We aren’t sure that we need a wedding video, what would you advise?
‘We totally get that photo is usually the first thing people think of when planning their wedding — and it’s obviously a massive part of the day. But (and not to sound like we’re upselling!) having a film really does bring something special that photos just can’t.
‘Photos capture the moments — but film captures the feeling. The voices, the laughter, the vows, the reactions — all the little things you don’t even realise are happening in the moment. It’s like being able to relive your day all over again, every time you hit play.
‘We’ve honestly lost count of how many people have told us they didn’t get a video and regret it later — and by that point, there’s no going back. The truth is, you might flick through your wedding photos now and again, but your video? You’ll watch it loads — with your family, friends, and one day maybe even your kids.
‘Whether you go for photo, film, or both — we just want to make sure your memories are captured the right way for you.’

What is the turnaround time for our wedding photographs and video?
‘Whether you book us for film, photo, or the full package, we always aim to get your first bits of magic to you nice and quickly. You’ll get your Highlight Reel (video) within about three weeks — just a little taster to whet the appetite while we work on the full film. It’s short, emotional, and perfect for sharing.
‘For photos, everything is fully edited and delivered within three weeks as well — no waiting around for months!
‘The main wedding film takes a little longer — usually around six weeks — because it involves more detailed editing, storytelling, and syncing footage from multiple cameras to make it truly cinematic and personal to you.
‘We know how excited couples are to relive the day, so we always do our best to keep things moving quickly without compromising on quality.’
What would happen if some or all of your team were to fall ill on my wedding day?
‘We totally understand that peace of mind is a big deal when it comes to your wedding — so if anything unexpected were to happen with one of our team, your day will still be 100% covered.
‘We’ve got a small but solid team of trusted professionals who work with us regularly and know exactly how we do things. So even in the rare event someone couldn’t make it (illness, emergency, etc.), we’ve always got a reliable backup ready to step in and make sure nothing is missed.
‘Your day is way too important to take any chances — and we’ve got systems in place to make sure everything runs smoothly, no matter what.
‘So you can relax knowing you’re in safe hands.’
