The countdown is officially on with just 9 months to go before your big day! In case you missed it, we’ve already shared a 12 months to go checklist – and will continue to count down in three month increments.

There’s no doubt that wedding planning can feel like a daunting task, but we believe that by managing your time wisely, planning your dream big day needn’t be overwhelming.

Here’s everything you need to do with 9 months to go:

Find a florist

What could be a lovelier task than starting to think about your floral arrangements? And where better to start than finding a florist you love and getting down to the business of discussing what you want. Haven’t a clue how to choose your wedding flowers? There’s no need to panic – we’ve a comprehensive guide here that will help!

Organise a gift list

Another lovely task – what’s not to love about organising your gift list? Grab your other half and put your heads together about what it is you want and need. Firstly, choose where it is you want to register. Once you’ve done that start adding items to your list. You might like to speak to a recently married couple about how they organised theirs. The trick is to cater to different budgets. Include some high value items and some lower priced gifts, so that all of your guests have something they can afford to buy.

Send save the dates

Eek! It’s time to officially give your guests notice of your big day! A good save the date should include you and your partner’s names, the date of your wedding, the location, and notice of a formal wedding invitation to follow. Not sure what style of save the date you’d like to send? We’ve found some really cool (and quirky!) save the date and invitation ideas here. How cool are the paper plane ones?!

Book hair and makeup

After finding the dress, booking hair and makeup is a pretty big tick on the to-do list for any bride–to-be, so where should you start? You might already have an idea of who you’d like to do yours, but if not start by asking for recommendations from friends and family. Once you have a list, check out all of their Instagrams to get a feel for the kind of looks they are able to create. If you’re still undecided, book in for plenty of trials on the lead up to your big day.

Book honeymoon

As if having a wedding to look forward to wasn’t enough, you also have a honeymoon to get excited about! Many couples decide to leave their honeymoon to much later after the wedding, but if you’re planning yours for straight after the big day, now is the time to get booking. Don’t forget travel insurance!

Reserve accommodation

Chances are, after all the festivities of your big day, you’re going to fall into bed when it’s all over – so make sure you have somewhere to lay your head! When you ring up to reserve your room make sure you mention it’s for your wedding and see if it’s possible to book blocks of rooms for your guests. Some venues do this at a discounted rate as part of your wedding package. You might also like to ask if they offer a romance package if you fancy enjoying some romantic extras.

Shop groomswear

It’s time to get those suits sorted! A groom will need to get a good feel for the look he’s going for before he steps foot inside a suit shop. Other things to consider are the season your wedding falls in and budget. It’s good to get started early to allow time for anything that needs to be ordered in and for any alterations that need to be made.
