11. The 1965 Gold Jaguar

This stunningly beautiful 1965 Gold Jaguar has a fascinating back story and will be a very special car to arrive in. Thanks to the fuel crisis in the early 70s, she ended up being mothballed in an English barn where she would remain for years. She was locked away in 1973 by her second owner at the height of the crisis when the price of oil had risen by 300% in a matter of months.

“At 16mpg she was no longer an economically viable proposition,” says her current owner, Peadar Mulligan of Classic Wedding Car and Limousine Hire Ltd.

“She was discovered in a barn in 2010 and over the next eight years underwent a complete restoration of both body and engine. For a car of almost 60 years her low mileage of 21,000 miles, original body panels and leather upholstery is as a result of her 40 year hibernation.”

You haven’t got to long now – it’s all starting to take place, the florist is booked, your wedding dress is ordered and the venue is gorgeous!

The hard part now, is not to lose momentum. Breaking down each part into significant little chunks helps keep the stressing to a minimum and simply makes things easier to manage and budget. If you haven’t read our 9 month and 12 month wedding checklists, be sure to check them out and tick off everything as you go!

We have to share that there is no right or wrong way to plan your wedding. But after extensive research with brides-to-be and newlyweds, we’ve agreed that this planning technique really works!

So here’s everything you need to do with just 6 months to go:

Finalise Your Guest List

Picking your guest list is often described as one of the most stressful parts in the wedding planning process, every bride dreads it! The difficulty here is that you don’t want to offend anyone but you might need to keep numbers to a minimum for budget reasons.

Before compiling a list, it might be generous to offer your parents a request or two, especially if they are paying for some of the wedding! Our top tip for couples just starting their wedding planning journey, is to stop verbally inviting guests that might not make the list – you will lose track!

Your wedding invitation is your guests’ first peek into your wedding day, so you want to make it sparkle. 10 Things That Will Keep Your Wedding Guests Happy

Let’s face it, when you have a wedding you are throwing a large party for your guests and it’s important to make sure they enjoy the day as much as you. So here are ten points to consider…

A Formal Invitation

Even in today’s social media age guests still prefer a hard copy formal invitation not a group text or animated email. Make them feel special with specially designed and chosen invites which contain vital information like where and when the wedding is, how to get there and nearby accommodation for guests who want to stay over.

No Hanging About

Modern guests do not want to wait for hours between the ceremony and the reception – if the wait is going to be anything longer than an hour, arrange refreshments and entertainment if possible, in an area where they can kick back and relax. Just don’t have them hanging about at the bar. This only leads to more problems later on.

Transportation

Guests don’t like not being told important stuff – for example, is the reception venue an hour’s drive from the ceremony venue? You should either arrange transport for the guests, or tell them clearly how much travelling is involved in between.

Costly Drinks

They do not like having to pay a fortune for a beer at the bar – if you can’t have an open bar, make appropriate arrangements with the venue so the alcohol is reasonably priced.
