Many couples are choosing to supersize their postponed honeymoons into “mega-moons”. If you don’t know what a “mega-moon” is, keep on reading!

Couples who want to go for a ‘mega-moon’ typically spending more than they originally planned and plan a trip to dream destinations. The honeymoon becomes more of a once in a lifetime experience!

Research from Expedia suggested that there has been an increase in these types of honeymoons due to the covid pandemic, as brides and grooms did not getting to experience their honeymoon at the time. This has caused a massive boom in the trend!

At the moment, couples are preferring going for a short break away straight after the wedding and then saving up for a mega-moon.

WJ brings you all the advice on how to perfect a mega-moon!

How to Perfect a Mega-Moon!

Go to your local Travel Agent

Choosing a local travel counsellor can take all the stress out of planning your honeymoon!

Honeymoon experts can offer tailor-made honeymoons, holidays & multi city adventures. Your honeymoon especially, should be one of the most memorable and magical trips you take. If you book your honeymoon through a travel agent, you get the full VIP experience. The service also doesn’t have to eat up your entire budget before you’ve even boarded a plane!

Prices will obviously differ depending on who you go with. Some may charge initial fees and others may not charge any fees at all (and are instead compensated by the hotels and other travel suppliers they work with). We recommend contacting Travel Counsellors or NI Travel Counsellor for all your honeymoon planning!

Make it more of an adventure than a relaxing break if you want to go MEGA!

Why not make your mega-moon more of a break that consists of a multitude of activities or romantic adventures for you and your partner? A mega-moon is meant to be a once in a life experience. You do not want to look back on it and just remember lounging about! Try to break the time up with a mixture of activities you both haven’t done before to make it super memorable and special.

Choose the Destination based on your interests than recommendations.

Try and set aside some time to sit down together and chat about what you both haven’t done before that you would be keen to try. Maybe you would both like to take to some water-sports, or maybe go somewhere with sand dunes and explore historical architecture. Whatever it is, try and hone in on what you both like to do and research places to make that possible. You wouldn’t go to the Maldives if you are an adrenaline junkie!

Allow for some space and time in between.

You will need some time during your honeymoon to relax, have a wander and even get lost together! Try and avoid making a long-winded itinerary for the trip, as no doubt one of you might crash with exhaustion. If your time isn’t planned to the second, you will be able to have fun and laugh if something does go wrong.

Mix it up a bit!

Why not go all out for a few nights and then on a few nights bring it back to basics and spend some quality time together? That way, you will be able to fully appreciate your surroundings, wherever you are! Diversifying your experience will fully allow you to see the area as it is and also allow you to connect with the people and the culture.

Don’t put too much pressure on it.

At the end of the day, it shouldn’t matter where you both are straight after your wedding, as long as you are together! Try and not add too much pressure to the trip as it will no doubt create unnecessary arguments that don’t need to happen. Mega-moons is meant to be the start of something special, so try and embrace the whole trip and all that comes with it.

The post Honeymoon Fund: Do’s & Don’ts on Asking for Money. appeared first on Wedding Journal.

]]>
It has become very popular for newly engaged couples to request for a honeymoon fund instead of gifts. How do you request it in a tasteful way without looking rude or tacky?

The right words can be very tough, especially when it comes to asking for money. The tradition has always been to ask for specific wedding gifts, and asking for a honeymoon fund was unthinkable. Thankfully, times they have changed, and it is much more common practise to ask for funds towards things like your honeymoon.

We have some top tips to get your honeymoon fund started! Keep reading to make sure you are asking for funds in the best possible way.

Let’s dive into some do’s and don’ts.

Do’s & Don’ts on Asking for Honeymoon Funds:

1. Don’t: Request Money on your Wedding Invites.

It is greatly discouraged to request money in your wedding invites. We also do not recommend asking for any gifts on your invites what so ever. Make sure you are using your invites to enclose only your guests invitation to the wedding day.

Why not mention a registry on your social media or create your own website? That way, if people want to contribute they can, and they won’t feel directly targeted to do so. You can also include venue details, lodging options and more information around the dress code on the day.

2. Do: Make your Honeymoon Fund Quirky and Fun!

Those who want to pay towards your funds will no doubt want to know where exactly it goes. Why not set up a money fund where people can contribute towards specific parts of your honeymoon. For example, a guided tour, your first dinner out, a hotel upgrade or a spa day. That way, they really feel like they made a difference to your break away. This might seem much more exciting than giving you both a couple of pots and pans or a duvet set!

Make sure to have different gifts options with different ranges in prices so there is no overwhelming pressure for all attending.

3. Don’t Limit your Registry too much.

As much as you might not want the traditional gifts, a lot of those attending might want to give you a physical gift. Definitely set up a registry and keep the options simple, but not to the point where it’s a completely limited selection.

Maybe you don’t want new towels and linen, but a pair of sunglasses would make the ideal accessory a honeymoon in the sunshine. You could maybe list skiing equipment to take away with you skiing. This is a thoughtful way to blend traditional registry etiquette with practical gifts that complement your honeymoon.

4. Ask in a Fun, Casual and Informative Way.

Some people like poems. Others like to have the request as informative as possible to explain the situation. Others also like to keep it short and simple so the message comes clearly across. Whatever you do, just make sure your true characters show!

We would recommend making sure you mention that there are no expectations for gifts, but donations are greatly welcomed. That way, you and your guests will feel much more comfortable having the conversation again if it comes up.

5. Create your Honeymoon Fund!

Nowadays, you do not have to stick to a traditional wedding registry, as more often than not the modern couple isn’t doing that anymore. Instead, you could organise a honeymoon or cash registry instead. Like traditional registries, these typically consist of information about how your guests can contribute. You can also share details like what you plan to do with the money, alternative ways to contribute, or a message of appreciation.

There are lots of different honeymoon registry websites out there. Make sure to find one that works for the best of you two.

Most importantly, don’t think about it too much! Create one today and let your guests know so you can start planning your dream honeymoon!

This twisting road is a day trip, filled with hairpin turns crossing 59 bridges on a narrow road that clings to the side of high sea cliffs, it is not to be missed. The Hana Highway takes you from the sleepy surf town of Paia to the isolated town of Hana.

There are many stops along the way with forest trails and quiet pools. Scramble across rocks in search of the perfect view of one of the many waterfalls.

Haleakala National Park is a 45-minute drive past Hana, and is a must stop.

Highlights: Bamboo Forest, Painted Eucalyptus Trees, 7 Sacred Pools, Waterfalls, Scenic Views

Route 66 – USA

The romance of Route 66 continues to captivate people around the world. Running between Chicago and Los Angeles, over 2,000 miles, this legendary old road passes through the heart of the United States.

Those wanting to track the road are encouraged to take a purist’s approach; ask for directions, test your map-reading skills and be prepared to get lost. There’s no romance in finding it with GPS.

Ring Road, Iceland

With magnificent glaciers, an untamed coastline and fascinating culture, The Iceland Ring Road is definitely one of the best road trips in the world. Lurking around every bend a stunning new landscape reveals itself.

Driving Iceland’s Ring Road exposes you to bubbling geothermal springs, sparkling rainbows, spectacular waterfalls, and rugged mountains day after day.

If you start your journey between early September and late April, you may even catch the magic of the Northern Lights! Now throw in the occasional glacial ice cave or an erupting volcano, and you’ll start to appreciate what travelling in Iceland is actually like.

Pacific Coast Highway, California, USA

Best of the Cape

South Africa’s ever-changing landscapes, pristine coastlines, quirky small towns and an abundance of wide open spaces have cemented the country’s reputation as one of the world’s best road trip destinations.

Adventurers should make their way along the False Bay coastline, passing through the towns of Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and Simons Town. The road hugs the coastline all the way. After rounding Cape Point the journey continues along the Atlantic Seaboard. This road includes the tolled road of Chapman’s Peak Drive, described by many as the most beautiful stretch of road in the world.

Staying in an overwater bungalow is one of those bucketlist items you must check off and what better time than on your honeymoon.

With the promise of crystal blue waters, sun-soaked days and high temperatures, these overwater villas are the perfect place to relax after the stresses of wedding planning!

St. Regis Bora Bora Resort, Bora Bora

Boasting the largest overwater villas in the South Pacific, starting at 1,550 square feet, if you choose to honeymoon here, you will be able to revel in the turquoise blue waters visible from the glass panels placed throughout.

If you can tear yourself away from your luxury accommodation, you can sail around the island’s azure waters, or dive under to meet blacktip reef sharks and rays up close! Also be sure to try the resort’s Lagoonarium or unwind with a spa treatment.

Order a cocktail at the swim-up bar, or sample international and Polynesian-inspired cuisine at one of the four restaurants.

Kuramathi Resort, Maldives

This resort offers a range of overwater villas but if your honeymoon budget can stretch, opt for one of the deluxe water villas set in the middle of the vast turquoise lagoon.

There is also accommodation which comes with the added luxury of a private pool, some of which are located just on the edge of the Kuramanthi sandbank.

All of the accommodation boasts luxurious, modern interiors and offers stunning views over the Indian Ocean while you relax with a drink in hand and you favourite tunes playing in the background!

With just 4 weeks to the big day, our resident beauty blogger Caitlyn Lendrum lets us in on some details of her dreamy honeymoon away!

Last week we talked about all the finishing touches for Caitlyn’s highly-anticipated wedding at The Loft next month – which btw, if you’re looking for some wedding inspo you need to check this out!

So this time around, we’re diving right into all things honeymoon as Caitlyn teases us with some details of her dream getaway, upcoming honeymoon style and future plans as Mr and Mrs with fiancé Tony

So Caitlyn… we’re curious to know if you’re planning a ‘mini-moon’ with Tony and if so, where are you going?!

”We decided that we MOST DEFINITELY need to get away after the wedding! With Covid restrictions still around, it’s not as easy to jet away to our dream destination, so we’ve opted to go to our two favourite places in the world – Santorini and Dubai.

“We get married on the Friday and on the Monday morning we are flying to Santorini to spend seven days of pure relaxation in the most stunning villa, Boutique 88. We stayed there last year and it’s the most beautiful place. Tony and I are both self-employed and have never been away longer than a week together so we are making a point of doing a longer holiday this time and decided to fly from Greece to Dubai for ten days. I think we will want to stay in the wedding/honeymoon bubble for as long as possible!”

We also heard you’re planning another an exciting trip away for the official honeymoon! Can you let us in on any details?

”We really don’t want to call our mini-moon a mini-moon because it’s pretty extra! However, I have always dreamed of going to the Maldives! The Maldives will be the holiday and experience of a lifetime, and I’m concerned that if we went this year, we wouldn’t be able to see the country for what it really is due to restrictions.

RELATED TO: The Bride Diaries: Finding The Perfect Wedding Venue

“So we’ve decided that we will go next year instead. We haven’t even thought of booking it right now. I think we will wait until the new year then start planning. If you have any recommendations, I would love for you to share them with me @caitlynlendrum on Instagram!

WOW, two honeymoons! We can only imagine the style you’ll be wearing – any ideas of fashion pieces for the big getaway?

”Ahh, this is one thing I need to get sorted! I have fabulous intentions to get our suitcases down from the roof space next week and start putting bits into the cases so when it comes to the wedding week it’s all organised. One thing I have had on my wishlist for a long time is a timeless white suit!

“I finally came across a beautiful one last week for a fraction of the price of the one on my original wishlist. I did a massive online order for light summer dresses and a couple of navy and blue bits to match the Santorini views. I am totally making the most of wearing white, so most of the pieces are white! Santorini is full of cobbled streets and steps so I have decided I’m going to just bring block heels to make my life much easier!”

Sounds like a dream! What’s the one thing you and Tony are looking forward to most about your honeymoon?

”Honestly, just the relaxation. I live such a busy and fast-paced life – I run three businesses and I don’t take weekends off. So when we take the time out and go away, we really do make the most of it. I also CANNOT wait to eat fabulous food. I always make a point of trying new food when I’m abroad!”

RELATED TO: The Bride Diaries: Caitlyn Says ‘YES’ To The Dress

Lastly… do you and Tony have any plans while away or anything on your honeymoon must-do list?

“Last year we made great friends with the man that owns the villa in Santorini, Boutique 88, and he is helping us plan some different things. I found a company on Instagram @Santorinidress who are a group of photographers that capture magical memories. They loan you amazing dresses and bring you to the cliffs in Santorini for a photoshoot – it’s totally amazing and I cant wait to book it!”

Stay tuned for our next segment where we hear more details from Caitlyn’s wedding planning journey!

We’ve all heard of couples who went through all the trials of wedding planning – only for the honeymoon to go spectacularly wrong. What’s the worst that can happen – and how can you prepare for it?

The honeymoon is probably the most expensive holiday you’ll ever take in your life – and that means expectations can be overwhelming.

And if things go belly-up, a honeymoon disaster can feel like the absolute last straw. You’ve spent months and months organising your wedding right down to the last T, and you should feel entitled to relax and enjoy your newlywed status in a heavenly holiday destination.

RELATED TO: Honeymoon Bucketlist – Overwater Villas

So when everything starts to unravel, it can put terrible strain on a marriage that is in its infancy.

We’ve heard of honeymooning couples who found themselves throwing up for days on end after coming down with a local tummy bug, or were confined to quarters after their hotel was hit by storms and monsoons.

There were honeymoon mix-ups which left couples unable to leave their own country, and the couple whose flight was grounded because birds had flown into the propeller before take-off, and they ended up marooned in a dirty two-star motel while waiting for the aircraft to be fixed.

Or the bride whose new in-laws decided to surprise them by joining them on their road trip honeymoon and were then car-sick the whole time (colossal yikes!).

Even celebrities aren’t immune to the honeymoon disaster despite all their wealth and influence.

Katherine Heigl was unable to jet off to Mexico as planned after marrying Josh Kelley in Utah in 2007, because she had forgotten to bring her passport – instead the pair had to stop off in California before later finding their way to their honeymoon destination.

RELATED NEWS: What You Should Do If You Need To Cancel Your Honeymoon

Meanwhile, Renee Zellweger‘s husband, country singer Kenny Chesney, admitted their honeymoon in Little Rock, Arkansas, was a disaster as he was there to do a show, and then had to go back on the road and do more shows in Oklahoma, Dallas and San Antonio.

And the most disastrous celeb honeymoon award has to go to Mila Kunis who likened her trip in an RV with her 10-month-old baby, husband Ashton Kutcher and his parents to a National Lampoon movie. It involved a ‘tin can on wheels’, broken air con, a long detour along a boulder-strewn fire road and a night stop close to two prisons instead of the Napa Valley.

So even though you are probably completely immersed in wedding planning, do spare a little time and money to disaster-proof your honeymoon, just in case it all goes pear-shaped!

Tips for avoiding a Honeymoon Disaster

1. Don’t forget to budget

Couples can get consumed with details like flowers and centrepieces and forget to set aside enough money for the honeymoon. You really don’t want to be standing in the middle of a sweltering Bangkok city street when you discover you’ve maxed out your credit card.

2. Communicate about honeymoon expectations

It’s your first trip away as a married couple, so make sure you’re on the same page. Do you both want to seek out adventurous experiences or just chill on the beach with pina coladas on tap? Talk about it beforehand or you could find tensions rising.

3. Do your research

Find out about your destination and think about what to do if your passports and money are stolen – which can be an all too common occurrence. Make sure you have the details for your local embassy, know how to file a police report, and bring emergency money and photocopies of your passport in a hidden part of your belongings.

4. Make sure your travel insurance is in order

The last thing you want is to be stranded in a foreign country without any back-up when sickness hits or serious injury happens. The newspapers are full of stories about couples who met with disaster on their holidays and found themselves in a horrible situation.

5. Sort out your passport

Don’t forget that you may have a new name now – and your booking name needs to match the name on your passport. As well as that, some countries won’t accept travellers whose passports were only renewed within six months, so make sure you find out in good time what you need to do. You might even need to bring your marriage certificate as a precaution.

6. Get your jabs

Make sure you get the correct vaccinations before you go away – we know there are lots of new rules governing travel now that Covid is here, but you may also need to protect yourself against malaria, yellow fever, typhoid and others, depending on where you’re going.

7. Take care once you’re there

Peel any fruit before eating it and always ask for a sealed bottle of water. Be careful of ice cubes – they could be made with tap water. And make sure you have the basic first aid items you need in case things go wrong – tummy remedies, hangover medication, insect repellant and disinfectant. Oh and a little something in case you get cystitis – sex, heat and dehydration can be a killer of a combination!

8. Pack in good time

Pack some of your belongings in each other’s cases, just in case some of your luggage goes missing on route, and bring some essentials such as underwear, toiletries and valuables in your hand luggage. Make sure you have your passport, insurance details, inoculation details, some first aid items and a plug to fit the local sockets if you are bringing anything electrical.

Couples from Northern Ireland are finding their honeymoon options have narrowed since the removal of Portugal from the green list. What do brides need to know when they’re planning their honeymoon?

May 17 was a red letter day for travellers from Northern Ireland waiting patiently for their chance to go on holiday once again, but the removal of Portugal from the green list has cast a shadow over the sector once again.

From today, holidaymakers in Portugal will have to quarantine for 10 days on their return to the UK, and take a pre booked Covid-19 test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8 of the quarantine.

RELATED TO: How The Latest Covid Rules Are Affecting Weddings

It means only a handful of countries are now left on the green list, which doesn’t require a quarantine period after you get home, and few of these are traditional holiday destinations. Instead, you have the likes of Brunei, the Falkland Island, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.

Sandra Corkin, managing director of Oasis Travel in Belfast, says: “The only holiday destination might be Gibraltar, but I don’t imagine many people would be heading to Gibraltar for their honeymoon.

“For most people, a red list destination isn’t even going to be an option – you’re only supposed to go there in the event that it’s essential travel.

“But the amber list is still very difficult. It says on the government website that you shouldn’t travel to an amber list country unless it’s essential, although nobody is stopping you doing it.”

RELATED TO: What you should do if you need to cancel your honeymoon

Countries on the Green List:

 • Australia
 • Brunei
 • Falkland Islands
 • Faroe Islands
 • Gibraltar
 • Iceland
 • Israel and Jerusalem
 • New Zealand
 • Singapore
 • South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands
 • St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha

Spain is on the amber list but has just started allowing UK travellers to enter without the need for a Covid test or vaccination certificate – however you still have to quarantine on your return.

Sandra advises that anybody thinking of taking a chance and travelling to an amber list country should read the Foreign Office advice first.

“The risk of not doing that means your insurance would be invalid if the country is not on the Foreign Office list,” she says.

RELATED TO: Minimoon fever: Why You Should Honeymoon In Ireland

“Find out what the entry requirements are for that country – it could be a positive Covid test or proof of vaccination, and you need to follow the guidelines if you’re coming back to this country again.

“You will need to speak to your travel provider – it’s really important that you seek advice from the company that you booked your holiday with – it’s absolutely critical.

“You need to make sure you have the right documentation – if you don’t follow the right procedures, when you’re coming home to Northern Ireland you could find yourself with a hefty fine or be denied boarding your flight coming home.”

However, Sandra is optimistic that couples planning their honeymoon for later this year will be faced with a better choice.

RELATED TO: Irish Hotel Weddings Are Back In Business

“I hope in six months’ time that most of Europe should be on the green list,” she says.

“I’m already expecting the Caribbean to be on it – islands seem to be more promising than mainland destinations. But I would like to think in six months’ time, most popular honeymoon destinations will be easily accessible.

“I hope that in six months’ time we are not sitting here talking about traffic lights any more.”

And Sandra adds that there should be flexibility for couples booking ahead – if a destination moves into the red list, they should be able to cancel, and if it moves onto the amber list, they should be able to change their dates.

“A lot of people are pushing their honeymoons back to September or October,” she says.

Your checklist

Check the Foreign Office website to find out about the country you want to visit.

Talk to your travel provider about the documents and tests you need.

Find out the rules governing travellers to and from the country you want to visit.

Make sure you pre-book any Covid tests you need in your honeymoon country or at home.

Ensure they are the correct (PCR) test.

What’s happening in the Republic

Current government advice in the Republic of Ireland is to avoid non-essential international travel, but from July 19, Ireland will operate the EU Digital Covid certificate (DCC) for travel originating within the EU.

All passengers arriving in Ireland are currently required to complete a Covid-19 Passenger Locator Form and have a negative result from a pre-departure PCR test taken taken within 72 hours before arrival.

All passengers, other than those coming from Category 2 countries, are legally required to home quarantine for 15 days at the address specified on the Passenger Locator form, with only a few exemptions.

A test can be taken on day five of quarantine and if written proof of a negative result is received, the quarantine period may end.

The DCC, which will come into play from July 19, will show whether a passenger has been vaccinated, has recovered from Covid-19 or has a negative test result, and passengers arriving in Ireland with a DCC will not have to undergo quarantine.

Since that distant time when Seychelles’ 115 granite and coral islands became scattered over a secluded corner of the Indian Ocean, they have remained sanctuaries for some of the rarest species of flora and fauna on earth.

So rare, that the Vallée de Mai which nurtures the legendary coco-de-mer, was once thought to be the original site of the biblical Garden of Eden.

The islands are also synonymous with stunning natural beauty, the wonderful harmony enjoyed by the multi-ethnic society and a near perfect climate where the temperature is always somewhere between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius, earning the islands a reputation as ‘land of perpetual summer’.

No account of Seychelles’ riches can be considered complete without mention of its reputation as ‘the islands of love’ and it is little wonder that that lovers are inspired to take their vows and wed in this gentle and romantic atmosphere. Sensual Seychelles creates the idyllic ambience for an unforgettable wedding day or honeymoon beneath swaying palms alongside silken waters fringed by the silver-soft sands of discreet island hideaways.

The islands’ surreal natural beauty, perfect climate and the friendliness of the local Seychellois form the ideal backdrop for a wedding, honeymoon, anniversary or just that impromptu romantic break.

Seychelles has all this to offer and more but perhaps its most enduring attraction is the security it offers and its enviable pace of life amid the tranquillity and multi-racial harmony of the islands.

Lose yourself in the delicious, natural intimacy of Seychelles island life in our ever-widening choice of accommodation options to suit every budget. With attractions and activities to match, you will enjoy the time of your life and take home the memories of a lifetime.

The post Covid-19 Questions To Ask Your Wedding Suppliers appeared first on Wedding Journal.

]]>
In such a time of uncertainty the best thing we can do is to accept the things we cannot change, but prepare ourselves with all the information we can to make decisions on what we can change.

We launched a poll on social media yesterday to ask our supportive followers for their top questions about the Coronavirus. We’ve listened to you all and here’s the most requested answers for you. It’s best to be informed and empowered, we shall get through this together!

Will my wedding still go ahead?

If your wedding is taking place in Europe over the next couple of months, particularly in Italy, France and Spain, you will likely need to postpone your wedding date as these countries are currently on lockdown. While we cannot be certain how long this will all last, it is thought to be a good few months at least.

It’s best to call your venue or wedding planner with a new date in mind and check if they are available. Provided the change of date happens in this financial year, they might change the date for free, but if after the tax year there may be an additional charge. Double check when you speak to your planner!

What about wedding insurance?

If you have already taken out wedding insurance, check the terms and conditions on what exactly is covered. Some policies will cover for a cancellation under any circumstance, some will cover changes in circumstance due to Coronavirus, and others may have more restrictive policies. If you don’t already have wedding insurance, be aware that some suppliers have stopped offering new policies, or have exclusions specifically relating to the virus.

Should we limit our guest list?

If your wedding can still essentially go ahead then it will be an option to reduce guest numbers. Open communication with your venue and suppliers is a must, why not consider live streaming your ceremony so loved ones at home can still be involved.

What happens if my supplier gets sick?

There may be some cases where due to illness or difficulties, suppliers cannot fulfil their services. In this case, your existing suppliers might have contacts they can recommend as an alternative. But, don’t forget to check the small print in your wedding insurance policy and/or credit card company to make sure you receive financial reimbursement.

Will I be able to go on honeymoon?

Depending on where and when you’re traveling your honeymoon might have to go on hold. This is now a global pandemic, and Europe is pretty much a no-go! The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised against ‘all but essential travel’ or ‘all travel’, so you won’t be insured. If you already have insurance, contact your provider and ask what’s covered if you do decide to travel, and what’s covered if you decide not to.

What You Should Do If You Need To Cancel Your Honeymoon https://www.weddingjournalonline.com/what-you-should-do-if-you-need-to-cancel-your-honeymoon/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=what-you-should-do-if-you-need-to-cancel-your-honeymoon Fri, 13 Mar 2020 14:50:19 +0000 https://www.weddingjournalonline.com/?p=116419 With many travel restrictions in place across the globe because of Coronavirus, we look at how your honeymoon could be affected and what your options are

The post What You Should Do If You Need To Cancel Your Honeymoon appeared first on Wedding Journal.

]]>

It’s a scary time right now, thanks to the Coronoavirus, and that has been having a knock-on effect on bride and grooms who are soon to be married. We’ve already covered where couples stand in relation to wedding insurance here, and we’ve looked at what steps couples can take if they’re due to celebrate their wedding in the next few weeks here. Now we’re looking at honeymoons: what happens if you have yours booked for the next few weeks or months? Are you covered if you cancel?

We break things down.

So your honeymoon is booked in March/April/May or beyond…

honeymoon

Right now things are changing daily. While the UK and Ireland don’t currently have a travel ban, other countries do. Vietnam, the US, Italy and China are among those with travel restrictions, and it’s predicted that as the number of cases of Coronavirus grows, other countries will likely follow suit. There’s no telling when these restrictions could be put in place either or how long they’ll last, so really, no matter where you’re travelling to, that leaves you and your honeymoon very much up in the air.

Should you cancel your honeymoon?

Honeymoon

If possible, you should contact the company you booked through to assess your options. Is there the possibility of postponing? Can you claim back a percentage of the cost or deposit, should you have to cancel? It’s worth noting that unless travel to your destination country has been banned, then all of your bookings remain in effect. You may however be covered by your travel insurance, if you took a policy out. A lot of providers will now be offering guidance on their websites about what to do, but it’s worth noting that policies vary greatly. For most though, if you’re simply cancelling a trip because you’re worried about the virus you won’t be covered for a refund, unless you paid extra for a ‘cancel for any reason’ plan.

Right, so what are your options?

Honeymoon

If your travel insurance won’t pay out, and you’re dead set on not travelling, the best thing you can do is look into changing your plans, rather than completely cancelling the whole trip. Generally you’ll incur less fees if you’re rescheduling a trip or picking a different destination.

The lucky winners of the Win a €35,000 Wedding at The Wedding Journal Show Dublin last autumn tell us all about their luxurious Seychelles honeymoon!

Amanda and Darren won the €35,000 wedding with The Wedding Journal Show Dublin and part of this amazing prize included a luxurious Seychelles honeymoon staying at Raffles Seychelles and flying business class with Ethiopian. Here the newlyweds tell us all about their amazing honeymoon.

‘We were very lucky to win our honeymoon with The Wedding Journal Show. Obviously, the destination was chosen for us and how blessed we were that it was none other than Praslin Island in the Seychelles, we couldn’t have dreamt for a better place to spend seven nights – when you think of a dream holiday on an exotic island – that’s exactly what this was for us.’

READ MORE: A Real-Life Honeymoon in New Zealand

‘We waited five month’s after our New Year’s Eve wedding and travelled to the Seychelles in May. A lot of websites recommended May and November as the best months in the Seychelles, the weather is not too warm, there is not too much of a breeze blowing which makes the seas calmer for swimming/snorkelling and it’s not peak season.

Amanda & Darren
Amanda & Darren

‘It was 28 degrees on average morning and night; during the day when the sun was shining it was a bit higher, so having air conditioning wherever you stay would be a must. We had sunshine every day of the week, there was heavy showers here and there, but they only lasted for five to 15mins or so and then they were gone – there was something comforting about the rain when we were down there…suppose being Irish we are well used to it!

‘The local currency is Seychellois Rupees – approx. 0.065 euro to 1 rupee, we were able to take cash out there from the local ATM’s, so no need to carry loads of cash with us from Dublin.’

Getting There

‘We flew Business Class with Ethiopian Airlines, so we had an easy check in at the Cloud 9 business desk in Dublin airport followed by a couple of drinks and food in the business lounge in Terminal 1. We then embarked on a Dreamliner 787 plane headed for the first leg of three stops which was Madrid.

‘On the plane we were greeted with Champagne and orange juice as we slouched into our spacious pods with their 15-inch screens – “Bohemian Rhapsody” was the movie of choice. A three-course meal along with whatever drinks we wanted followed en route to Madrid, the food was really good and it wasn’t like we were on a plane at all from the moment we took off. The shoulders well and truly dropped and a massive sense of relaxation set in.

Ethiopian Airlines Cloud 9

‘The stopover in Madrid was for one hour (with no need to leave the comfort of your seat). We then took off for Addis Ababa airport, a seven hour flight. More Champagne followed with another three-course meal before we reclined the seats to the bed position and got some sleep.

‘When we arrived in Addis Ababa a dedicated Cloud 9 passenger bus picked us up, there was no need to check back in here, we simply showed our boarding cards and were directed right into the departure areas. We had a three-hour wait so found the Cloud 9 business lounge to kick back, connect to WiFi and catch up. The final leg was a three-hour flight to Mahé which is the main island in the Seychelles, this flight was on a 737-800, we were greeted with the same reception as before and another three-course menu to feast on which included a buffet trolley of local Ethiopian food – this was really good, so much flavour and spice. The cabin staff were really nice throughout our flights from Dublin to Mahé and couldn’t have done more for us. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.’

Arriving in the Seychelles

‘Once on Mahé Island we were greeted by a driver who would take us down to the port for our boat trip to Praslin courtesy of Seychelles Tourism, it actually bucketed down rain from the airport to the port which was only a 15min drive (was still approx. 30 degrees), by the time we got our bags checked in for the boat trip the rain had stopped and the sun was beaming again, much to our delight. The boat trip was an hour to Praslin (the second biggest Island in Seychelles), it’s a high speed ferry, so it was a bumpy enough crossing!

‘We arrived in Praslin after a day’s travelling with the sun still shining and a driver to take us from the jetty to Raffles Seychelles a mere 15 minutes away.’

Raffles Seychelles

‘Raffles Seychelles is amazing! When the taxi pulled up to the gated resort on our first evening we couldn’t believe it! As we drove up to the reception our jaws dropped. This was not your regular hotel reception, it was outdoors with a roof, half glass panels surrounded it, with staff sitting at some desks, with a seating area for guests arriving with the most spectacular views out into the sea – we just couldn’t believe how beautiful it was.

Raffles Seychelles

‘The general manager came out to greet us while the staff brought us fresh chilled towels to cool down along with a glass of iced tea. Once checked in a golf buggy brought us up a steep path to our Ocean View Villa – another jaw dropping moment when we walked in and took a look around! Once in the main door we walked onto this massive deck, to the left was a large seating area with a table for eating at, we turned to the right and we had our own infinity pool which looked out into the Indian Ocean – fantastic views that never got old. We then opened two large patio doors into our bedroom and adjoining walk-in wardrobe and bathroom, plus we also had an outdoor shower. We felt like celebrities!

‘We had thought about exploring one of the neighbouring islands, La Digue, but everything we needed was here and with two young kids waiting for us at home we took the time to completely relax within the resort itself. As well as two swimming pools, the resort has four separate restaurants, a games rooms, private beach with beds, snorkelling, kayaks, shops, turtles (one was 135 yrs old), gym, spa, yoga, hikes, runs, bikes….the list is endless, it really was five-star all the way!

Raffles Seychelles

‘The food was delicious. Breakfast was massive, it had everything! Prosecco to start, fruits, cereals, cheeses, hams, pastas, Indian food, pastries, traditional Irish breakfasts and an Asian stir-fry station (this was our favourite – really good, not something we would normally eat in the morning). The pool bar had a lovely menu also for during the day and for dinner there was plenty of choice between Sushi, Asian or international restaurants – one of the nights we had the special for two which was a whole red snapper with all the trimmings – it was really good and filleted to perfection. The chef had recommended it and didn’t steer us wrong!

‘In fact, all of the staff were very friendly and couldn’t have done enough for us. On our second night the resort had a meet the staff night along with some complimentary cocktails – this was a really good idea and set us up for the week knowing who to approach if we needed anything.

‘The resort is perfect for honeymooners. It is so relaxed and anything you want or need is catered for – exactly what a honeymoon should be all about. In our villa, on an evening of our choosing, we were treated to an indulgent bath. After dinner we arrived back to the lights dimmed, rose petals on the floor which led into the bathroom, where the bath was filled and a chilled bottle of Moet with two glasses sat waiting for us…this was a lifestyle we could certainly get used to!’

Raffles Seychelles Honeymoon

What To See & Do

‘On Praslin its either, walk, run, bike or taxi – the island is not that big which for us was perfect, no hustle and bustle, things went at a much slower pace here than Ireland

‘On the first day, we walked up to Cote D’or town and beach, (about a 50min walk) this allowed us get our bearings and get a feel for the locals. We had a lovely lunch up here (local curry) and were able to get some snacks to take back to the villa. Supermarkets are small, but have a good selection and a very well-priced. We got the local bus back which was really cheap.

‘We walked up to the beautiful ‘Anse Lazio’ beach on day two. This was a steep walk but the beach and the views when we got there were well worth it. It is probably the nicest beach we have ever seen, it even had hidden bar called the ‘Honesty Bar’ (historically this was unmanned, so people would go up take a beer and leave the money), so we took a stroll up and had one of the local beers (SeyBrew) – and enjoying breathtaking views. We would highly recommend it for anyone who visits Praslin.

Raffles Seychelles Praslin

‘Day three, we got a taxi to Vallée De Mai (about 15-20mins from the resort), a UNESCO world heritage site, which is home of the Coco De Mer palm – we joined a group tour around this reserve which was well worth it, the tour only takes about 30 to 40minutes, and our tour guide was very funny and actually made it really interesting.

‘For the last few days, we took full advantage of the resort, sunbathing on the beach, eating, drinking and sleeping! We also enjoyed a couple’s massage in an outdoor room looking out at the sea with the sounds of the sea crashing in against the shore – heaven!’

In Summary

‘We were spoilt from the moment we checked in until the moment we touched down in Dublin airport on May 22nd – this for us was a once in a lifetime opportunity that we grabbed with both hands and enjoyed every second of it, there is nothing we would have changed about the week itself, we mixed getting some activities in with some pure relaxation whilst drinking and eating all around us – it was paradise on a plate and we lapped it up and had dessert afterwards! We made memories that will last for a lifetime and we cannot thank the Wedding Journal and the prize partners enough for this unbelievable prize.

Dinner at Raffles Seychelles

‘When we spoke with people on our honeymoon and told them that we won it they were so happy for us and kept saying that you never actually meet people that win these types of prizes and are they real at all – well we can vouch that the Wedding Journal prize was well and truly real and delivered on everything they offered.’

Top Honeymoon Tips

‘Look upon it as something that you are only ever going to do once, we found having space between the wedding and the honeymoon gave us a chance to recharge the batteries to take full advantage when it came around. The Seychelles was well worth the day travel there and back, (Business class did help massively with the long distance), the place is amazing full of beautiful beaches, the weather was perfect, there’s no need to get any shots before you travel there, a three hour time difference, plenty to do, good food and the people were very nice. The only regret we have is that we didn’t book for an extra week!’

Honeymoon Highlights

‘Our highlights would be flying business class with Ethiopian, the beauty of Praslin itself and its beaches, the people overall and last but not least Raffles resort – it was pure luxury.’

When Sharon & Jonny came to picking their ultimate honeymoon destination there was one obvious choice – New Zealand

‘We had a few friends that had spent time there, they made it sounds so magical, it sounded too good to be true, we had to see for ourselves what all the fuss was about; our honeymoon felt like the perfect opportunity.’

New Zealand is a fantastic place for honeymooners with breath-taking scenery it’s possible to find romance at every stop, from long, lakeside walks and secluded beaches, to quaint little country towns and astonishing views.

New-Zealand-Real-Life-Honeymoon-Jonny-and-Sharon

Getting There

Sharon and Jonny flew with Emirates Airlines and booked the entire honeymoon through STA in Belfast.

‘The team at STA couldn’t have been better, they arranged everything. Flying with Emirates was hassle free, we had several connection flights with them and each flight was a treat. Our journey there was long, we left Dublin at 10pm on a Monday and eventually landed in New Zealand at 11am (their time) on the Wednesday. The longest flight was fifteen hours, however it didn’t feel as long as we few at night, so the lights were dimmed, and we were given blankets to help us sleep. The food on board was great too; three course meals with a constant supply of snacks and drinks, we were treated like royalty.’

Where to Go

Sharon and Jonny booked almost everything with STA Travel in Belfast, from the flights to the campervan transport.

New-Zealand-Real-Life-Honeymoon-Jonny-and-Sharon

‘We set off on our honeymoon a month after we got married, it suited us best with work commitments, plus the season there was switching to Spring. As it wasn’t perhaps peak season, it wasn’t just as busy as it would be during the summer months, which suited us better as we were driving so much. We had lovely weather in the North Island, with temperatures averaging at sixteen degrees throughout the day, however it was significantly colder in the South Island, we even had snow one of the days we visited Queenstown.’

Transport

New Zealand is all about travel, there is a lot to see and do, but location wise it’s stretched out across the country. Jonny shares how he and Sharon visited so many popular spots. ‘The local transport routes aren’t as advanced as they are at home, with a list of places we wanted to see that scattered across the country, hiring a camper van suited us best.’

‘This was booked through STA and was perfect, we had everything we needed; a fridge, heater, microwave and camp sites in every large town. The facilities in the campsites were top notch too, some even had thermal pools and hot-tubs.’

The North Island

The couple started off in Auckland and made their way to the middle of the North Island, stopping in Cambridge, Rotura, Lake Tapao, Ohakune and Wellington. Sharon picks Rotura as her favourite spot, with lots to see and do. ‘There are natural hot springs and sulphur pools, they treat some of the little pools, so you can bathe and relax in them, it was such a fun way to spend an evening.’

New-Zealand-Real-Life-Honeymoon-Jonny-and-Sharon

‘We also spent an evening at a Mori Camp, this was awesome, our dinner was cooked using the traditional New Zealand method called ‘haggi;’ this is food such as fish or chicken and root vegetables that are cooked in a pit, dug in the ground, it was actually so delicious. There were so many picturesque walks, lakes and hiking trails. We hiked up a mountain called Rainbow Mountain which gave us the most spectacular views. We stumbled across an ‘Instagram Trail’ in our research, which followed some of the most beautiful lakes and they were all within ten minutes of each other, the water is just so clear and the most immense colour.

The South Island

To reach the South Island, Sharon and Jonny simply took the ferry, with their trusty camper van in toe. ‘We headed to the west coast first, then across to Queenstown, up the middle of the Island and then headed towards Christchurch. We stopped off in Greymouth, Franz Josef, Fox Glacier, Wanaka, Queenstown, Mt. Cook, Lake Tekapo, Timaru and Christchurch.

Lake Wanaka is a beautiful stop with the most incredible view of the Rocky Mountains, ‘there was still some snow at the top of the mountains too which was an added bonus for us,’ adds Sharon. ‘We visited a famous tree that grows in the lake, it’s been named as ‘that Wanaka tree, it has become so famous it even has its own hashtag #thatwanakatree.

New-Zealand-Real-Life-Honeymoon-Jonny-and-Sharon

Queenstown was Sharon and Jonny’s favourite place in the South Island. World-renowned as the home of adventure, Queenstown is home to a huge choice of adrenaline activities including jet boating, bungy jumping, white water rafting, skydiving and even indoor thrills, all guaranteed to get blood pumping. Jonny persuaded Sharon to join him on the Nevis Swing; a two-person swing that drops over the edge of the Nevis River Valley, looking out with a drop of 134m. Sharon describes her new husband as a lover of all things adrenaline, ‘this was a must for him, so I forced myself to join in, I’m glad I did it though.’ Another popular attraction the couple visited was the Luge; a thrilling down-hill go-kart ride, travelled over banked corners, tunnels and dippers.

New-Zealand-Real-Life-Honeymoon-Jonny-and-Sharon
The Luge in Queenstown

With Sharon hailing from the mighty Mourne Mountains in Newcastle, Co. Down, hiking and trek trails are in her blood. ‘There is so much exploring to do in New Zealand, it’s crazy, we stopped off at Lake Tekapo and Mt. Cook National Park before heading home.’ Picturesque by day and dazzling by night, Lake Tekapo is part of a UNESCO Dark Sky Reserve, making it the perfect spot for stargazing. ‘We completed a two-hour hike to the base of Mt. Cook, there was still snow on the path, so it felt like we were entering the world of Narnia.’

When to Go

Spring is a great time of year to travel in New Zealand, from September to November. For adventure seekers, this is a great time for white water rafting, as the mountain snows start melting.

Spring is also the time when the new flowers and leaves start appearing. Christchurch is aptly named “the Garden City”, so there is no better time than Spring to take in the gardens and parks of the city.

New-Zealand-Real-Life-Honeymoon-Jonny-and-Sharon

New Zealand’s rugged beauty and varied landscapes make it a spectacular destination to visit at any time of year. The summer months of December to March bring long, bright and sunny days, ideal for visiting some of the country’s most spectacular beaches. June through to September can bring snow to the South Island as well as some of the North Island’s more mountainous areas, attracting skiers from far and wide. No matter the weather, New Zealand’s breath-taking landscapes will always look spectacular.

Tips on Booking a Honeymoon?

Sharon’s advice is to pick somewhere you both would really love to go, ‘your honeymoon is a once in a lifetime trip, you can afford to go a little bit extra for such a special occasion.’ Jonny suggests researching as much as possible before travelling somewhere new; ‘check out when is the best time to go, interesting places to visit, as well as fun things to do and see.’ They both also highly recommend the team at STA Travel, their travel agent helped ease those honeymoon stresses, and offered some great suggestions.

The post Six Top Tips For The Perfect Romantic Getaway appeared first on Wedding Journal.

]]>
Every couple deserves to begin married life in style but with so much planning and effort going into the wedding day itself, finding time to prepare for a magical honeymoon can be tricky.

Nick Ball, Marketing Manager at Optima Villas who has lived in Lanzarote since 2001, offers his top six tips to guide you through organising your honeymoon, and helping you enjoy a relaxing and romantic post-wedding break.

Set A Budget

The most important thing in terms of cost is that you’re realistic. While it’s understandable that you want your honeymoon to be a holiday you’ll never forget, is it really worth racking up credit card debt or blowing through the entirety of your savings?

When it comes to how much to spend, it’s well worth setting yourselves a budget and being strict about if or when you’re willing to exceed it. Of course, with the big day looming, it’s not unlikely that you’ll receive some generous cash gifts which can contribute to your spending money pot – but it’s best not to rely on this.

Ask For Recommendations

Unless you’ve had a honeymoon destination in mind since you first got together, settling on the location can often be one of the most tricky aspects of honeymoon planning – and it’s not unlikely it’ll require some compromise! So, if you’re starting with a blank slate, why not throw all the ideas into the ring?

Start by making a list of all of the places you and your other half would love to visit and ask friends and family to pitch in with recommendations of places they’ve been to. Whether you dream of pure relaxation in your own luxury villa in Lanzarote or an action-packed safari, with a long list to work your way through, you can start filtering out any which don’t seem suitable for a honeymoon, don’t fit within your budget or don’t have the activities on offer that you’re both keen to try. You’ll soon be left with just a couple of options to choose from!

Do Your Research

With just a handful of locations left on your list, this could be the perfect time to turn to the internet for advice. With so much of our day-to-day lives now being documented online, anyone and everyone seems to have an opinion on just about everything – so if you’re keen to know what people think about your desired location, accommodation options and anything else, there’s guaranteed to be a review waiting to be read.

It goes without saying that there’ll always be some negatives in there – after all, we might be quick to voice an opinion after a bad experience, but how often do we go to great lengths to leave a positive review?

Also, it’ll pay to find out about more than just the place you’re planning to stay. Think about the surrounding areas, bus transfers, currency, local cultures – the list goes on. Find out as much as you can about the country and its customs before you choose this as your final destination.

Watch Out For Hidden Extras

Another benefit to online research is that if there’s likely to be any unwanted surprises…whether the brochure fails to mention that the hotel is adjacent to a 24-hour club or the travel agent ‘forgets’ to tell you about the sky-high transfer fee, these are the sorts of things that can ruin your dream holiday.

To really stay on top of things, it might be an idea to keep a little budget aside just in case anything costs that little bit more than you were hoping for – and don’t take anything for granted. For example, if you find one article telling you that beer is super cheap, check if this is in one location or across the entire island or city!

Be Prepared To Wait

The movies might portray the start of a honeymoon being right after the evening wedding party, with the newlyweds driving off towards the airport as their guests dance the night away, but today’s reality is a little different. When it comes to flights and accommodation, prices hike at various points in the year, so it’ll pay to be willing to hold off on your honeymoon if you’re getting married during school holidays or in the height of summer.

Regardless of prices, there are other benefits to waiting a little while before you jet off on honeymoon. In the days after your wedding, you’ll want to take some time to reflect, open your cards and gifts and just generally wait for your feet to hit the ground again! Once the dust settles, you know you’ll have a wonderful, romantic trip to look forward to – so it’s a win-win!

Plan Day Trips And Downtime

The idea of two blissful weeks on a white sandy beach with a coconut cocktail in hand is enough to get anyone excited – but the likelihood is that by day three, you’ll be pretty tired of staring out at the crystal clear sea and instead be in need of a little entertainment. Alternatively, you’ll pack your days full of exciting adventures and hardly have time to make the most of the on-site infinity pool!

So, what’s the solution? You simply need to strike the balance. Plan plenty of activity but dedicate some days to downtime. This way, you can enjoy all the adventures of your chosen location together, as well as the time spent sunbathing and swimming – whether together or alone.

In Conclusion…

Ultimately, whether you decide to enlist the help of a travel agent or do it all yourself, planning your honeymoon should be a fun experience to launch you into married life – so get organised to guarantee your trip goes without a hitch! Oh, and don’t forget to tell anyone who’ll listen that you’re on honeymoon – you never know when you might be able to bag an upgrade!

Just one week after Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth shocked fans with their long awaited and secret wedding, the pair have taken to the slopes for their honeymoon.

An early Christmas present appeared in the shape of Miley and Liam’s wedding on 23rd December. After being engaged for two years and together for ten, the pair finally tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in their Tennessee home surrounded by loved ones.

They wanted to keep their wedding as secret as possible, probably so the element of surprise was more effective, but a few family Instagram pics reveal some of the gorgeous details, such as Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, posing with her mother, Tish, at a stunning floral arch and a fuzzy but happy photo of the happy couple cutting their cake on his old blackberry phone (visit @billyraycyrus on Instagram for more).

Miley stunned in a custom Vivienne Westwood, ivory silk-satin dress, that draped elegantly from off-the-shoulder while Liam went for the traditional suit jacket, shirt and tie. It was important to them to have a small, intimate affair after the trauma of losing their home in Malibu to the California fires.

After their wedding, the newlyweds took to Montana to bring in the New Year with Liam’s family on a skiing honeymoon.

While taking your family on honeymoon seems a little unconventional, fans of Miley know she’s not one to shy away from being different. It’s also a great time of year to take a family holiday and who knows, Miley and Liam could still fly off to a sunny island yet!

Priyanka Chopra, 36 and Nick Jonas, 26 married at the weekend in a lavish three day celebration, merging two very different families together.

The fun kicked off with a Sangneet on the Friday night, with both sides of the families taking part in a dance off that told the story of Chopra and Jonas’ love story. Writing on her Instagram, Chopra shared it was a night they will never forget and will cherish forever.

Two ceremonies took place at the weekend, in the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace, with the happy couple wanting to respect the faiths of each family. On Saturday, a Christian ceremony took place with Jonas’ father, who is a pastor, officiating. Then on Sunday, Chopra took part in Mehendi, the application of henna tattoos on the bride before meeting Jonas, who was culturally and handsomely dressed like royalty for the Hindu ceremony.

For the Western ceremony, Chopra looked drop-dead gorgeous in a custom made Ralph Lauren sheer wedding dress that was decorated with jaw-dropping two million mother of pearl sequins and a 75-foot long veil. Jonas also wore Ralph Lauren, they both wore Ralph Lauren at the Met Gala 2018, which was their first official appearance together, so it was only fitting they wore the same on their wedding day. Only four other brides have ever worn a Ralph Lauren wedding dress and they were family members, making Chopra’s dress even more special!

For the Hindu ceremony, Chopra wore a red lehenga by designer Sabyasachi Mukherji, the traditional colour for the bride and Jonas looked handsome dressed as a royal in a turban and sherwani! Both bride and groom took a ride on an elephant and had a 40-foot long floral canopy called a mandap. Nick rode in on a horse, as is custom, with his loved ones dancing and a live band.

On Monday, the happy newlyweds were spotted kicking off their new life together at Jodhpur airport, and it seems they could be heading on their honeymoon. If it’s anything like their wedding, it’ll be lavish and unforgettable!

The happy bride wore a turquoise and gold sari by Sabayasachi, accessorising with Celine sunglasses and her handsome new husband on her arm. Jonas complimented her look in a khaki jacket and trousers by Ermenegildo Zegna Couture with Westward Leaning shades.

The red streak in her hair, vermilion, indicates that she is now a married woman and she was still wearing her ceremonial bangles.

Their honeymoon plans are yet to be revealed yet, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on their Instagram for you, we’re not jealous at all!

On Tuesday, the newlyweds hosted another reception in New Delhi where the blushing bride wore a layered traditional gown alongside her handsome husband, and they were joined by family and friends, including Joe Jonas’ fiance, the actress Sophie Turner, who looked beautiful in a traditional Indian dress.

Creation has blessed these friendly islands with perpetual summer, the space to breathe the purest air and room to unwind on the powder-soft sand of endless beaches. Against the romantic backdrop of our diverse islands, scattered like pearls upon the warm, azure waters of the Indian Ocean, your yearning for the ultimate in beauty and tranquility will become reality.

Seychelles, made up of 115 pristine, tropical islands, is a magnificent archipelago, containing the only mid-ocean granitic islands on the planet, that was certainly known to the early Arab sea-farers before being colonised by the French in 1770 and then by the British in 1814 before becoming an independent republic within the Commonwealth in 1976.

In an ecologically compromised world, Seychelles offers sanctuaries for numerous, endemic species of flora and fauna that are amongst the rarest on earth. Many endemic and indigenous species can be discovered on the network of guided walks. The islands are also home to two UNESCO World Heritage sites: The Vallée de Mai, upon whose ancient palms grows the wondrous Coco-de-Mer, and fabled Aldabra, largest raised atoll in the world.

Throughout the islands are to be found unparalleled opportunities for sailing on bare-boat or skippered yacht, world class deep-sea and fly-fishing, as well as a broad diversity of dive experiences for the novice and experienced diver alike. From Mahé, principal island of the Seychelles, the nation’s islands extend 100 km north and 1000km in a glittering arc towards the east coast of Africa. Between 15 minutes and I hrs flight time from Mahé, several of our select island getaways offer accommodation in well-appointed lodges and resorts ranging from sumptuous five-star luxury to beach-side cottages with a natural and homely elegance.

The islands enjoy a rich variety of hotels and guesthouses, each with its own brand of welcome to seduce the visitor with the charms and rhythms of an island lifestyle that are refreshingly authentic and with sights, sounds and flavours that are typically Creole.

Sensual Seychelles has long been dubbed ‘the islands of love’. Home to the unique Vallée de Mai, purported by many to be the site of the original Garden of Eden, it is little wonder that lovers are inspired to take their vows and wed in this gentle and romantic atmosphere.

Marriage and/or honeymoon packages are offered by several leading travel agencies to ensure that your wedding day or honeymoon will be as blissfully romantic and unique as you, in your wildest dreams, can conjure, allowing the memories of those special days to become forever emblazoned in your hearts.

Whether in Seychelles for a wedding or honeymoon, make a rendezvous with destiny and set your own stage for the most romantic days of your life beneath swaying palms, alongside crystal waters fringed by silver-soft sands.

Sip exotic tropical cocktails against the backdrop of crimson sunsets. Visit the island of La Digue where time stands still and bicycles and the ox-cart hold sway on the pathways to the dream beaches of Grand Anse and Source D’Argent. Or, simply lay back and watch the days and nights slip ever so slowly by from within the luxurious cocoon of a dream island getaway.

Quietly stroll the Vallée de Mai where the legendary Coco-de-mer nut grows high on ancient palms. Dine tête à tête with your feet in the sand on uncrowded beaches or try your hand at dancing the moutia, ancient dance of slaves, whose sensuous rhythms beckon from the flicker of a beach fire beneath a lover’s moon.

So, come and savour the ultimate in tropical romance! Be swept off your feet by the breathtaking beauty of the world’s most stunning islands that offer you diversity, a carefree lifestyle and the services of dedicated professionals whose attention to detail will leave you with the freedom to enjoy the moments of a lifetime.
