Our International Catwalk 

Definitely one our most sought after events, our catwalk never fails to attract crowds.

Each scene included a stunning display of dresses and dancing, brought to you by the very best bridal shops, manufacturers and designers available across Ireland. With styles to suits are all sizes, we showcased bridal, groomswear and mother of the bride looks giving our visitors plenty of inspiration! 

Living It Up In VIP

Our VIP guests were treated to special reserved front seating right in front of the main catwalk stage!

They also enjoyed a complimentary glass of Prosecco each, delicious sweet treats and not to forget, their fabulous bumper goodie bags! 

100s of Exhibitors All Under One Roof!

Over the weekend, we played host to hundreds of exhibitors who came out and displayed their work for brides and grooms to help them gather ideas for their wedding day.

On-hand to answer any questions and showcase their unique and fun services, we couldn’t have asked for better exhibitors!

Expert WEDTalks & Live Performances

Our industry experts took to the Wedding Journal Show stage to answer all your wedding questions and offer some advice! From flowers and tablescaping, to wedding planners, and hairstylists, we really had it all!

We also had some top performances from drag queens, bands and ceremony musiscians so you could get a taster of what they could bring to your wedding!

Our Wedding Journal Show Competition Winners

And who could forget our two fabulous Wedding Journal Show competitions!

We had a competition at The Wedding Journal Stand for a luxury mini-moon at Clontarf Castle. The winner for this competition will be announced next week!

We also had teamed up with As You Do Weddings and hosted a competition that would giveaway a dress to one lucky bride and a suit to one lucky groom. Aidan McCormack and Rachel Doherty were given the As You Do Weddings giveaway prizes! Congratulations to them both!

Can I Still Buy Tickets At The Door?

Of course! We close our online ticket site Friday at 5pm, but you can always buy tickets at the front door! Ticket price at the door is £12.

Do Children Go Free?

Children under the age of 12 can go free, and anyone between the ages of 13 and 16 are half price. We welcome families of all ages and sizes!

Is There Parking Near-By?

Yes, there is parking opposite the TEC Belfast and there is a charge.

What Is Included In The VIP Ticket?

Our International Catwalk 

Definitely one our most sought after events, our catwalk never fails to attract crowds.

Each scene included a stunning display of dresses and dancing, brought to you by the very best bridal shops, manufacturers and designers available across Ireland. With styles to suits are all sizes, we showcased bridal, groomswear, pageboy and flower girl looks, giving our visitors plenty of inspiration! 

Living It Up VIP

Our VIP guests were treated to special reserved front seating right in front of the main catwalk stage!

They also enjoyed a complimentary glass of Prosecco each, delicious sweet treats and not to forget, their fabulous bumper goodie bags! 

Our Best Stand Winner 

This year, our exhibitors really upped their game, as many stands dressed theirs better than ever. However, we could only have one winner and that lucky exhibitor was Instaglam Photobooths, winning our certificate and a fabulous bottle of champagne! 

The Cavan based exhibitor Instaglam Photobooths put so much effort into their stand and it paid off in the end by showcasing their awesome photobooth and self mirror services – congratulations!

Over the weekend, we played host to hundreds of exhibitors who came out and displayed their work for brides and grooms to help them gather ideas for their wedding day.

On-hand to answer any questions and showcase their unique and fun services, we couldn’t have asked for better exhibitors!

The Amazing Win A €35,000 Wedding Final

And who could forget our life-changing Win a €35,000 Wedding final! 13 nervous couples took to the stage on Sunday afternoon, all hoping to be crowned the winner and walk away with our sensational wedding package! Cooper and Luke from 98FM were on stage as our fabulous hosts, as each round continued to grow more and more anticipation. Then, with a simple pop of a confetti balloon, we had our winners – congratulations to Amy Byrne and Sean Carroll! A highlight that was watched by thousands in the Citywest and over 4K on our Facebook was our fabulous Win a €35,000 Wedding. 98fm’s breakfast hosts Cooper and Luke welcomed 13 nervous couples to the stage, all hoping to win this once-in-a-lifetime prize, but there could only be one. It’s time to meet our lucky winners – Amy & Séan! We sat down with our winning couple a few days after it the weekend’s bombshell started to sink in a little…

Congrats once again guys, I hope it all feels a little bit more real! So why don’t you tell us a little bit more about yourselves, where did you first meet, and how did love start to blossom?

Séan definitely knows you well Amy! So you got the ring, what made you enter our competition?

‘I’m a massive fan of 98fm and listen to the big breakfast with Cooper and Luke every morning going to work. We had literally just started looking at venues and were starting to save when I heard the competition on the radio, so thought what’s the harm in texting in. I was just about to head into work one morning when I got a call. They had myself and another guy playing against each other in a general knowledge quiz. I have to say it’s very nerve wrecking being on the radio, the lads are true professionals. I was absolutely delighted when I got through as a finalist and rang Séan and my mam straight away. We had all our fingers and toes crossed from that day!

Were you nervous before the big final, did you prep before hand?

We were very nervous! We were going to look at a venue last Monday and were playing Mr and Mrs in the car on the way! Séan kept forgetting my favourite colour, so I didn’t have high expectations! I was also terrified we were going to have to sing or dance on stage! My mam was saying she thought it might be more like a winning streak style but we didn’t know what to expect at all. My grandad had been lighting candles and everything! We became even more nervous when we saw all the other finalists, the size of the stage and all the people watching. We loved the show, there was so much choice and entertainment throughout the day. We were literally about to put a deposit on a cake when Sean jokingly said we should wait to see the result of the competition (luckily we did!).’

That’s so funny, great-thinking Séan! So you make it down to the final two couples, how did it feel when you opened the 98fm suitcase and you realise you’d just won?

‘We were in complete shock- I’d say you could see from my reaction in the video. I was absolutely speechless!! It just felt so surreal, we never expected to win anything like that in our lives. We were just saying today it was like an outer-body experience! It’s starting to sink in now and we can’t believe it. It’s such a life changing prize and we honestly cannot express how over the moon and grateful we are to have won.’

With all your wedding suppliers selected for, all that’s left to do is pick a venue and set a date now? 

‘We had absolutely nothing booked before Sunday, so this was prize was a dream come true! We had just started looking at venues for 2022 or even 2023. We were originally hoping to get married in 2021 but realised we were going to need time to save so had decided to push it out as we’re also trying to save for a house. We are so so grateful to be able to now move our wedding forward to 2021 which wouldn’t have been possible without this amazing prize. We hadn’t thought of a honeymoon at all, we were going to postpone until a good while after the wedding just to give us time to save again! We can’t believe we’re going to Zanzibar-what an amazing opportunity! The honeymoon we would have picked definitely wouldn’t have been near as fancy as that and to fly business class too-absolutely amazing!’

It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime competition – have you any final thoughts? 

‘We just want to say a massive thank you to the wedding journal, 98FM and all the sponsors who are absolutely lovely and we are so excited to have them on board for our wedding. We are so lucky to have the best of the best of everything for our wedding and it wouldn’t have been possible without you all. You’ve taken so much pressure off our wedding planning, thank you to you all from the bottom of our hearts.’

David (28) and Stephanie (23) first met through mutual friends. ‘I was studying at Loughry College with one of David’s friends and we met on a night out and really the rest is history as they say.’

After four years together, in February of this year, David surprised Stephanie with a night away at Castle Leslie where he got down on one knee and proposed. ‘I had no idea that he would propose and when I turned around from looking at the bouquet of flowers he had got me he was down on one knee with the ring he had picked in his hand.’

As this is where David proposed, the couple decided to marry at Castle Leslie in August next year and came along to The Wedding Show in the TEC Belfast ,for some inspiration and a fun wedding planning day out as they put the finishing touches to their special day.

‘When I was purchasing tickets for the Show I thought why not enter to Win the £35,000 Wedding and I couldn’t believe it when I got a call to say we had made it to the final 12 and would we be free to come along to the Show for the live final on Sunday 6^th October,’ explains Stephanie.

‘We had no idea what to expect on the day and certainly never imagined that we would walk away as the winning couple. In fact we were the last couple to be drawn from the bowl on stage so we didn’t even have the chance to select our own envelope in the first round which dictated what we did in the other two rounds – so fate was obviously with us!’

Stephanie’s mum was with the couple to help cheer them on and celebrate with them on the day. ‘Our family kindly offered to contribute towards some of the wedding expenses but winning this had made it much easier and allows David and I the chance to save for our future,’ adds Stephanie who is studying for her Masters in Human Nutrition at the University of Ulster while also organising her wedding.

David and Stephanie can now plan their dream wedding with the help of Ciara and Emma Jane from venue stylists Elegant Extras NI, who, along with Heather’s floral skills from Blossoms & Bluebells will be able to get creative and add a unique twist to their amazing wedding venue.

Lauren Gilmour and her expert team from The Bridal Company Northern Ireland will be dressing Stephanie and her bridesmaids and newly opened Freddie Hatchet Fine Tailoring will ensure that David and his groomsmen are well turned out for the occasion too!

On hand to capture the entire day, award-winning wedding and portrait photographer Peter Thomas from Peter Thomas Photography will be creating lasting memories for the couple as they capture their day in his distinctive style.

Finally to add that little bit of extra sparkle on their big day, Murray & Co. Jewellers are gifting this fabulous couple their wedding rings & jewellery.

Hundreds of exhibitors came out to display their work for brides and grooms to see and gather ideas about. They were on-hand to answer any questions our brides and grooms had, and showcase their unique and fun wedding options.

With our Honeymoon & Destination Wedding Pavilion, our Curious Wedding Zone and Inspirational Village there were lots of key areas to interest brides and grooms looking to add the finishing touches to their wedding planning at the show.

12 nervous couples took to the stage on Sunday afternoon, all hoping to walk away with our incredible wedding package worth a crazy £35,000! We’ve compiled a list of our most asked questions, to help give you a closer look if it’s your first time at the show.

Can I Buy Tickets At The Door?

Of course! We close our online ticket site at noon on the Friday before each Show, but you can always buy tickets at the front door! Ticket price at the door is £12/€13.

Do Children Go Free?

Children under the age of 12 can go free, and anyone between the ages of 13 and 16 are half price. We welcome families of all ages and sizes!

Is There Parking Near-By?

Yes, there is parking opposite the TEC Belfast and there is a charge. Disabled parking is available also, just speak to a member of staff at the front gate.

What Time Are The Catwalk Shows?

Our Bridal Catwalk Shows run at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm daily. You can’t miss the music and lights!

Find you inner child and learn to climb a coconut palm and learn to weave palm leaves and make a hat or mat for a memory of Zanzibar.

Cooking classes are also organised regularly where you can learn to prepare some classical Swahili dishes with the help of the excellent Baraza chefs who talk about the local spices and their use and importance.

Visit the local village of Bwejuu and see how Zanzibaris shop, live and work. See the school, a typical house and walk around accompanied by a guide who is from the village. You will have a soda at the local kiosk and see the goings on in Bwejuu.

During your stay you will also get to see traditional Swahili dancers and singers and the hotel’s Taarab band plays music that would have been heard in the Court of Sultan bin Said in 1880.

After five years together Amanda Lee and Darren Brennan got engaged on day of her 30th birthday in Bruges in 2013. ‘I thought I was actually going to Portugal, so Bruges was a total surprise for me,’ comments Laura. 

It turned out that Darren had been planning his proposal, ‘I had the bridge I was going to propose on all picked out,’ and Amanda adds, ‘It was so romantic, he took me to this bridge in the evening and told me to make a wish and when I opened my eyes there he was down on one knee with a ring asking me to marry him!’

With plans to marry in 2015, the couple had to postpone because Amanda fell pregnant with their first child, Leila who is now three years old. Then they decided to look at dates again in 2016 and booked for New Year’s Eve 2018 and in the meantime they have also welcomed their second child, another baby girl, Robyn who is six months old.

Amanda and Darren had both come along to the Wedding Journal Show in Citywest Convention Centre in Dublin on Sunday 23rd September, to pick up ideas for finishing touches and while there entered to win the €35,000 wedding. So, receiving a call to say they were successful and through to the live final that day was a total shock and welcome surprise. 

Joining the other sixteen finalists on stage, they were crowned the winning couple after completing a series of fun tasks on stage with 98FM presenters Rebecca Shekleton and Luke O’Faolain. 

As Amanda comments, ’I can’t believe we won. From being selected from hundreds of other entries, to actually having luck on our side when it came to the games – it was obviously meant to be!’
