Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge got married on April 22, 2023, in the French Riviera in front of many A list celebrities. Although Sofia wore two dresses on her wedding day, her ceremony gown caught everyone’s attention.

Justin Warshaw, The CEO of the iconic wedding dress brand Justin Alexander married the lovely Kelsey Turchi with a magical ceremony nestled in the Tuscan Hills of Italy on September 30th – and the photographs (and fashion!) are breathtaking! The bride wore five amazing bridal outfits and the groom rocked four sleek looks.

The two kicked off their wedding weekend in style with a welcome dinner at the Borgo San Luigi where guests got to enjoy the incredible wines of Tuscany while being entertained with authentic Italian live music.

Kelsey looked like a dream at the dinner wearing a chic suit from the Viktor & Ralph collection while Justin wore a sleek black shirt and neutral trousers.

The wedding ceremony was held at Castello di Celsa in Siena Italy, a 13th century historical castle. The fairytale venue boats a sprawling estate overlooking lush gardens with mesmerising views of the surrounding Italian areas.

Kelsey walked the aisle in a stunning custom Justin Alexander dress with floral applique while the groom, Justin himself, wore a fashionable tux with an off-white blazer, black trousers and black bow tie. We also got a glimpse of some finer design dress details with a personal message embroidered in the sleeve ‘love, yours’ as well as two’s initials in a love heart – we’re obsessed!

For the reception, Kelsey surprised her husband Justin by wearing his favourite dress design, style Bobbie, from the Justin Alexander Signature collection.

The satin A-line gown featured 3D laser cut flowers and a high leg split which gave that perfect blend of feminine and drama.

Kelsey later changed into her third bridal outfit with a mini custom made Justin Alexander dress to finish the reception and dance the night away!

Justin also switched into a full black tuxedo as the two celebrated becoming husband and wife with fireworks dazzling in the distance.

The next day, Kelsey closed the weekend wearing a floral lace custom made dress by Justin Alexander which featured a cut out at the waist and an open back for her bridal brunch. Justin wore a relaxed white shirt and dark jeans.

The two worked with wedding planner, Primavera Dreams to create their dream wedding weekend which was captured by photographers David Bastianoni and Alessia Franco.

Congratulations to Kelsey and Justin, we wish them every success and happiness in their marriage!

One word… OBSESSED! This year we found lots of modern ballgowns on our catwalks that didn’t shy away from sparkle or sequins. If you want to turn heads as you walk the aisle and feel like a princess, go bold with your ballgown – the more drama, the better! The above dress is a stunning design by Gaia Bridal which can be found at Divinity Bridal and Bridal Elegance Boutique.

Daring Necklines

Take the plunge with a daring deep neckline as seen on our bridal catwalks! There was plenty of deep, angular necklines and exposed corsetry that really brought the wow-factor. Don’t be afraid to make a statement with your neckline which can take your dress to the next level. One of the biggest trends we caught on our catwalks was the variety of statement sleeves. As the runway lights beamed onto the catwalks we fell in love with the variety of sparkle, sequins and shimmer gowns. Contemporary Capes

Bridal capes are making waves in the wedding world and we’re loving it! This is a great way to switch up your look and add that contemporary chic feel. The big Kardashian wedding we’ve all been anticipating has finally taken place over the weekend with Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker holding a lavish ceremony at Castello Brown in Portofino, Italy.

It comes as the third wedding celebration as the reality star and Blink-182 drummer held an unofficial Vegas wedding on April 3rd followed by their official courthouse wedding April 15th 2022.

The Guestlist

Although the Kardashian-Jenner family was not seen in attendance for the first two celebrations, sisters Kim and Khloe Kardashian as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner and mother Kris Jenner were at the Italian wedding – however, brother Rob Kardashian was not seen in attendance.

Both Kourtney and Travis’s kids were at the celebration and a few A-list celebrities such as Machine Gun Kelly, Megan Fox, fellow Blink-182 rocker Mark Hoppus and public relations boss Simon Huck and his finance executive husband Phil Riportella were just some faces seen heading to the affair!

Kourtney’s sister Kendall also brought her NBA star boyfriend Devin Booker along.

The Venue

It looks like Kourtney and Travis had a castle wedding in the ancient Castello Brown fortress in the coastal town. The Castle was built during Roman times as a military fortress and is steeped in history being part museum.

Ahead of the ceremony, the venue was decorated with floral arrangements, romantic lighting and DJ booth. The floor was also covered in red carpet for Kourtney’s entrance down the aisle.

Chairs looked to be arranged up on the side so guests could get a clear view of Kourtney and Travis saying ‘I do’ – again!

The Fashion

If you’ve guessed it by now, the fashion for this wedding seemed to be following a gothic theme. We know how much Kourtney and Travis love to wear black and punk-inspired looks on the daily so we expected nothing less from this lavish affair!

Kim Kardashian rocked the dress code with a figure-hugging black lace dress with a huge black cross necklace. North matched her mother’s look with what looks like a black cape and cross necklace.

Khloe also wore a sheer lace black corset-style dress with a dramatic gold headpiece. Momager Kris kept things light and summer with a flowy pastel pink gown with all-over feathering. We also seen her rocking a dramatic polka dot dress!

The bride went for a white minidress with a corset-lingerie style by Alta Moda Dolce & Gabbana for the ceremony for her vows paired with a lacey white veil.

She later changed into a black minidress by the same designer paired with opera gloves and a striking appliqué of the Virgin Mary on the bodice. The two also were seen wearing personalised white denim jackets at the reception.

Travis kept it simple with a black suit by Dolce & Gabbana. The Kardashian-Jenner family all seemed to have a afterparty outfit swap as we more Instagram posts sharing looks from the day.

The team from Verona Bridal flew to Essex to meet with Stacey, bringing multiple different styles to her home where she made the decision on which dress she will wed Joe Swash in.

Stacy took to social media to share the good news, saying: “I loved every single second of today, trying them on, imagining seeing Joe for the first time, feeling the veil on my shoulders & seeing the glitter sparkle as I moved around.”

It’s official… Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz tied the knot over the weekend with a three-day long celebration which is most definitely setting the tone for glamourous celebrity weddings in 2022!

The two shared some adorable photographs on Instagram from their big wedding weekend at Nicola’s father’s Palm Beach estate in Florida.

It was a combination of Britain’s most famous (and fashionable!) families which included A-list celebrities such as Serena and Venus Williams, Eva Longoria and Victoria Beckham’s former bandmates from The Spice Girls – Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell.

The bride wore a custom-made Valentino gown which she described as her ‘dream dress’. It featured a square neckline, sweeping train and included an evil eye symbol and message from her mother, former model Claudia Peltz that was stitched into the gown with blue thread.

British Vogue captured the day and noted that the ‘romantic, traditional-with-a-twist gown is the culmination of a year’s worth of conversations between the bride, Peltz’s stylist and Valentino creative director’s team.’

Made from duchess satin, the dress consisted of an open back, sleek silhouette and full skirt and Nicola completed the look with long laced gloves and a matching lace veil as well as platform heels by Versace. Her stylist Leslie Fremar helped put the look together – and fans were not disappointed!

It was also said that the couple invited their guests to make a donation to the Ukrainian people in need through their agency Care.

The date is said to be the weekend of April 9th and we’ve heard so many juicy details on what is expected to be one of the most glamourous celebrity weddings of 2022! Let’s take a look and what’s coming up…

Nicola’s family estate at Palm Beach in Florida is said to be the place where the two will tie the knot which is 44,000-square feet and features a swimming pool and scenic sea views that will make a beautiful backdrop for an outdoor ceremony or reception.

The Wedding Dress

It has been reported that the actress will wear not one, but two Valentino dresses for the wedding and has visited Rome twice to refine the finishing details, while Brooklyn is said to don a Yarmulke number. It has also been said that Victoria’s former bandmates from the Spice Girls – Mel C, Mel B, Emma and Gerri will be wearing dresses from the VB label.

A-list Appearances

We’ve heard that Snoop Dogg will be DJing at the wedding and we can’t wait to see the Spice Girls reunited and what they will wear! There are also rumoured to be some other big celebrity names in attendance such as Gordan Ramsay, Eva Longoria and Gigi Hadid to name a few.

The Bridal Party

There are claims that Brooklyn’s brothers Romeo and Cruz will be Best Men at the ceremony while Nicola’s ice hockey-playing Brother Brad will be titled ‘Man of Honour’ AKA chief bridesmaid. David Beckham is said to have taken on the role of Master of Ceremonies while Nicola has confirmed her grandmother will be her maid of honor and shared the adorable news on her Instagram story.

The Cake

23-year-old Brooklyn gave us a sneak peak of some sweet treats that may be on offer during the wedding celebrations. The buddy chef shared photos from their cake testing session which showed a red velvet cake with decadent butter frosting and a selection of tartlets with berries.

As 2021 came to a close, Emily in Paris star Lily Collins took to Instagram to share some unseen photographs from her magical wedding to Charlie McDowell which shows even more stunning details of their day.

The two wed on September 4th at Dunton Hot Springs, Colorado, following an engagement of almost a year. In these new photographs, we see their woodland venue (which btw, looks like something straight from a storybook!) and details of Lily’s jawdropping Ralph Lauren gown which is sure to get brides excited for wedding planning in the new year.

Lily shared the 2021 recap post on Instagram saying: “By far my favorite moment of 2021. The year I married my best friend and love. Still feels like a dream – thank god we have the beautiful pictures to help us relive the magic…” How sweet!

You may remember Caitlyn Lendrum from our latest Bride Diaries who told us all about finding her perfect venue and dream dress, so today we’re back to talk about all things wedding theme, style and aesthetics!

With less than five weeks to go until Caitlyn says ‘I Do’ to her fiancé Tony, we’re bringing you with us on the journey of choosing the perfect suppliers and nailing down all the finer details before the big day…

So Caitlyn, we just know your day is going to be amazing – what type of theme and vibe are you going for? 

“Ahh thank-you! Gosh, when I think of my theme I think of all my current favourites and trends! At the minute, I’m obsessed with all the neutral tones like browns and nudes and I’m loving pampas and natural wood, so I really think the current trends gave me my theme without thinking of it. We booked an autumn wedding so the venue works fabulous with autumnal tones.

“The Loft is such a stunning space and really has its own character. Once we booked the venue, everything really came from that! They have stunning light fixtures with lots of greenery, they have soft pastel tones in the ceremony room and the vibe of The Loft is very rustic, wooden, moody yet still bright and spacious.”

WOW. We can already see it all coming to life! What has been your main source of inspiration throughout wedding planning?

“When we got engaged, one of the first parts of planning was visiting The Wedding Journal Show and also following on the Wedding Journal Magazine on Instagram – I found so many amazing vendors that suited my style, I followed every dress shop across the country, I followed different suppliers for catering and drinks companies, local entertainment businesses and went from there!

“As things popped up on my feed, I was saving images for inspo and went onto Pinterest with one thing at a time and narrowed down my favourites. For example I made a board for ‘hair’ and searched the styles I thought I would like best for me and my bridal party and saved them. Doing it this way was much less overwhelming and I ticked things off the list as I went! It worked for me really well and I booked one vendor at a time.”

Tell us about your flowers and cake! What kind of style and theme are you going for?

“Heather at Blossoms & Bluebells is sooo talented and knows exactly what I like and don’t like! Heather is a fabulous friend of my Mum’s and I always knew I would have her doing my flowers. When it comes to flowers, I am obsessed with light and bright. Whites, ivory’s, soft pastels, eucalyptus and pampas would be my dream bouquet!

“However, I recently did makeup for a bride and on the morning of the wedding her florist arrived with the most beautiful daisies and it was such a simply stunning touch. I trust that Heather is fabulous at what she does, so I’ve left the creativity up to her – I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

“We have also finalised our cake with Erin from Sugar Lane Artisan Cakes to create something beautiful. Erin specialises in creating modern unique cakes by adding flowers, wild flowers, textures, and many other stunning details. All I had to do was show Erin my bridesmaids dresses, theme colour, venue and my flower inspo and left the designing in her capable hands!”

That sounds dreamy! What other décor and styling pieces do you have planned for the day?

“We also booked Blooming Backdrops to create some stunning backdrop décor for us who are ab industry leading wedding décor and floral stylist serving Northern Ireland and many parts of Ireland. They are amazing at creating those magical moments and memorable guest experiences – they offer a range of products from floral backdrops, arches, signage, table decor, bouquets and much more. 

Anna is mega talented, she does décor hire and bespoke styling to create fabulous modern weddings. Anna is going to create some fabulous neon sign backdrops for our entrance and behind our cake stand. I cannot wait to see her vision come to life. I am a huge fan of neon signs, they’re so modern and quirky and add a fun mood to any space!”

Lastly, have you decided on who will be capturing your dream day?

“The star of the show. I booked none other than Mark Douglas, Image 31 Photography. Mark is an amazing photographer who I met years ago. Mark and I got flown to do a destination wedding in Spain and we spent 4 days together in the sun working, a perfect day in the office! After building such a fabulous relationship with Mark and because we have been following each other for years, he knows exactly what I want and don’t want. I much prefer candid shots and images capturing the moment.

“I want Mark to capture people laughing and having fun instead of leaning on a tree or awkward posed shots. A lot of people aren’t used to being on camera and don’t enjoy being in pictures or just don’t want to be uncomfortable. I love candid shots because they capture real, natural moments between people who probably never would get a picture together, it makes it much more precious. I just know Mark is the perfect man for the job!”

Almost Famous actress Kate Hudson (42) has revealed that she is engaged to her long term boyfriend, Danny Fujikawa (35), the father of her two-year-old daughter Rani Rose.

Revealing the news with an exuberant photo posted on her Instagram account, the Bride Wars star is seen kissing Danny on top of a mountain, her engagement ring visible on her left hand.

In the caption, she commented: ‘Let’s go’ and added bridal emojis.

It will be the second marriage for the actress, who has a son, Ryder (17), with rocker Chris Robinson, who was her husband from 2000 until 2007.

She also has a son, Bingham, nine, with her former fiance Matt Bellamy (43), from the band Muse.

Kate has been friends with Danny for decades as she is close to his sister, but the couple have been romantically linked since 2016. He is the co-owner of record label Lightwave.

Back in 2017, Kate, who is the daughter of Goldie Hawn, opened up about her relationship with Danny.

“We’ve known each other for 15 years; he’s my best friend’s stepbrother. We kinda skipped through the part of knowing what the hiccups were. You kinda skip the part of going, ‘Oh, you’re like that?'” she said.

Hudson said that while they had always known each other, the timing was never right as he was younger than her and she was “building a family and working very hard.”

Hours after announcing her engagement, the actress made an appearance at the 2021 Met Gala, wearing a pink sequin bra top, maxi skirt and floor length coat by Michael Kors.

‘Toxic’ star Britney Spears announced her engagement to five-year boyfriend Sam Asghari with a joyous post displaying a diamond ring engraved with the word ‘lioness’.

She wrote ‘I can’t f**king believe it’ alongside an Instagram post in which she winks, kisses Asghari on the cheek and answers ‘Yes!’ when he asked if she likes it.

In a separate post, actor and fitness trainer Sam posted a photo of the ring and the couple kissing.

The four-carat diamond ring is engraved inside the band with the word ‘lioness’ because that is Sam’s nickname for Britney, according to ringmaker Forever Diamonds NY.

The news comes days after her father Jamie Spears filed papers in a Los Angeles court to end the 13-year conservatorship that has controlled her personal life and finances. 

Britney (39) had revealed that the terms of the arrangement, imposed in 2008 after concerns were raised about her mental health, were preventing her from marrying Sam (27) or having more children.

Mr Spears had stepped down as conservator of his daughter’s affairs in 2019 due to health issues and was replaced by her long-term care manager Jodi Montgomery, but he continued to oversee his daughter’s business arrangements. 

A court hearing concerning the new filing has been scheduled for September 29.

Sam’s manager Brandon Cohen confirmed news of the engagement, saying: “The couple made their long standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them.”

The pair first met on the set of her Slumber Party music video in 2016. 

Iranian born Sam moved to Los Angeles at the age of 12 to live with his truck driver father and has three sisters who also live in the US. The actor and fitness instructor joined the cast of Black Monday earlier this year.

Britney has been married twice before, wedding her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in 2004 – however, the marriage was annulled soon afterwards.

Later that year, she married dancer Kevin Ferderline, with whom she has two sons, now aged 14 and 15, but the couple divorced in 2007.

In June, Spears told a Los Angeles court that the 13-year-old conservatorship partially controlled by her father was abusive, saying “I just want my life back.” She said she hoped to marry and to have more children.

Last week Jamie Spears, who in 2008 set up the court-sanctioned arrangement, said in a court filing that he believed the judge should “now seriously consider whether this conservatorship is no longer required.”

“If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes she should get that chance,” read the petition to terminate the legal arrangement.

“Ms. Spears has recently demonstrated a level of independence that calls into question whether a conservator of the person is required,” the filing said, citing the singer’s hiring a lawyer of her own choosing and driving alone again.

Britney’s round engagement ring is the 5th most searched style of engagement ring in 2021, according to marriage and relationship specialist Divorce Answers.

The most searched engagement ring shape is emerald, closely followed by oval, princess and pear cuts, while the least searched shape is the Trilliant cut.

“A round cut engagement ring like Britney’s will always stay a classic, in my opinion, meaning it won’t top the list of most searched, but will always be up there with a good amount of interest. Its value will also always be high, as it’s not a passing trend,” Lauren Cook-McKay, marriage and therapy specialist at Divorce Answers, says.

“With high profile celebrities such as Hailey Baldwin, Blake Lively and of course Ariana Grande showing off stunning oval-shaped engagement ring diamonds, it’s no surprise that searches for them have surged this year. This could calm down though when the trend passes.”

So Caitlyn, last time we spoke you told us you finally found your dream dress! Can you give us a sneak peak of what it’s like?

“Ahh! Yes, I finally picked my dress and I am so excited! I actually chose my shoes before picking my dress – I spotted the most stunning pair of Jimmy Choo’s at the start of 2020 and absolutely knew they needed to be mine, so when they went on sale six months later, I had to get them!

“September came and I visited Blush Boutique. Ailin and Caoimhe showed me the most beautiful gowns. I always knew whichever dress I picked I would probably make some little changes to ensure it was perfect for me. I tried on a stunning Alan Hannah dress which I fell in love with. The neckline was perfect, the fit was stunning, it was so classic and elegant. I just knew it was ‘The One’!”

What was your dress shopping experience like and what kind of styles caught your eye?

“As I mentioned before, I’m a very decisive person and quite impulsive! A big part of my job is fashion so I’ve tried so many different trends, colours and fits of clothing and now know what I like and what I don’t like. I always knew which neckline I suited best and this was quite hard to find. Actually in fact, no other dress really ever compared to the one I chose! I personally think it’s quite different and I haven’t seen anything similar on anyone before.

“They always say you go for something different and obviously for me this wasn’t the case, which made my life much easier. We popped into Blush in Belfast for Mum to find a ‘Mother of The Bride’ dress and on the first visit, we ended up finding ‘The One’! I had a brief look at some dresses in the bridal suite unintentionally – from there we went to a shop in Coleraine and Magherafelt for one dress in particular which I found online but when I got there they didn’t have the dress in store.

“They got it ordered and a couple of days later, it was there! Although it was not what I expected – the material wasn’t as structured to hold its shape and it actually just clung to me. On the way home I called Blush and told them to order in the dress I spotted in store and that was it! They if I wanted to have another look but being so decisive I knew I didn’t need to! Out of all the dresses I tried on in other boutiques it was the only one that made my Mum and maid of honour cry – that’s when you know!”

What boutiques did you visit and how many dresses did you try on before finding ‘The One’?

“All in all I visited about five shops, two were PR jobs but I really enjoyed myself! I was able to try on so many styles and I was also able to show all my followers lots of different styles and price points to help them on their journey to finding ‘The One’. I visited The Wild Rose Boutique & Bridal, Blush Boutique on Lisburn Road which have some showstopping dresses, Jill Jones Bridal in Templepatrick which have an amazing variety and Forever Bridal in Finaghy which is where I found my evening dress… that’s a story for another day!

“Due to Covid, I couldn’t visit any boutiques with my bridal party due to numbers indoors, so bar my maid of honour, none of my girls have seen my dresses – I can’t wait to surprise them with a first look with my besties and my sisters on the day!”

Have you chosen any accessories to finish off your bridal look?

“I have! The teeny details that make a difference. In the last year, I started up my second business, By Caitlyn Collection. We are an online cosmetics and jewellery store. We stock all of our own brand of cleansing products, jewellery accessories and the most recent launch is our bridal collection – we really have it all. I customise personalised products like clutch bags, jewellery boxes, tote bags and much more. I have myself and my girls all kitted out!

I designed two absolutely fabulous pairs of earrings, one for my day dress and one pair that has much more bling for the evening! They will be launched later in the year as the ‘Caitlyn Earrings’.

Finally…how do you think Tony will react to the dress?! 

“Awh, I honestly think he will totally love it! Although, I don’t think anyone will expect what I’ve went for. I’ve opted to surprise him at the altar – we ALL look forward to the grooms reaction and I cannot wait to see what he thinks. Seeing all the little details come together will be fabulous!”

The couple married on September 4 at Dunton Hot Springs, following an engagement of almost a year.

Posting on her Instagram account, Lily said: “What started as a fairytale, is now my forever reality. I’ll never be able to properly describe how otherworldly this past weekend was, but magical is a pretty good place to start…”

The 31-year-old newlywed added in another image: “I’ve never wanted to be someone’s someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife. On September 4th, 2021 we officially became each other’s forever. I love you beyond.”

Another photo showed Lily in her hooded white veil, and Charlie McDowell holding her face in his hands. “Never been happier,” she wrote.

The “Emily in Paris” star had been dating Charlie for over a year before they got engaged in September 2020. She is the daughter of British music icon Phil Collins and director McDowell is the son of Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen. 

The couple’s friends and social media followers expressed their delight, including tennis star Maria Sharapova who commented that their wedding destination at Dunton Hot Springs is one of her favourite places.

Meanwhile, Emily in Paris co-star Ashley Park commented: “I’ll never be over this photo and you both.”

Homeland’s William Abadie wrote: “Well isn’t that a heart warmer of a news. Congratulations to both of you Lily.”

Reese Witherspoon, Tan France and Sarah Hyland also shared their congratulations.

Lily wore a long-sleeved hooded lace gown by Ralph Lauren, one of only a handful of wedding dresses the brand has designed, along with Priyanka Chopra’s.

The couple married at Dunton Hot Springs just outside Telluride. The remote resort, once an 1800s ghost town, has been retrofitted into a property that includes 12 luxury cabins and a restored bathhouse that is fed by the natural warm water source.

Nestled in an alpine valley, the property boasts views of 14,000-foot mountain peaks, aspen trees, rivers, and meadows.

Lily originally announced her engagement in September 2020, posting a picture of her bezel-set ring.

Earlier this year, she opened up about how the Covid-19 pandemic had strengthened her relationship with Charlie.

Speaking to L’Officiel magazine, she said: “Quarantine has made and broken up a lot of people, but the time together just solidified what we already knew about each other. Everyone has very much been who they are these last few months, because there aren’t any external distractions.”

At this stage in 2021 we think it’s safe to say almost everyone’s wedding plans have been affected by you know what (we’ll give you a hint – cough cough!).

We’ve caught up with our resident beauty blogger and MUA Caitlyn Lendrum who gives us the 4-1-1 on her wedding planning process, finding the perfect venue and how she and Tony got everything back on track after a year in lockdown.

So Caitlyn, when we last spoke you told us you first booked your date and venue for the 30^th April 2021 – what’s changed?

“Trust us to get married in the middle of a pandemic! Over Christmas 2020 we did our best to remain relaxed and told ourselves once January came we would make a decision on going forward with restricted numbers or postponing until we could throw the party we always dreamed of – that’s when we went to The Loft and decided on our new date, the 22^nd October 2021!

“We didn’t have any other significant dates in mind and knew our options would be limited. We essentially flicked through the diary and just said ‘That one!’ We just knew we wanted a Friday wedding so we could throw a second day event on Saturday, then relax on Sunday. Amazingly, by April 30th a lot of restrictions were lifted – bars and beer gardens had opened, however still no dining indoors, so we definitely feel we made the right decision as now we can look forward to the day with ease.”

We heard you had already sent out your save the dates too – ahh! What happened next?

“Ugh, the save the dates that were ALMOST wasted! We had the fabulous Claire from Paper Dot create the most beautiful stationery ever, it was exactly everything we wanted. We went for classic black save the dates with gold accents and a little bunny tail and they were just stunning. After having to change our date, we decided to not send a second bunch of save the dates in case we had to change for a second time!

“So we decided to opt for the free option and text everyone to let them know our decision. It was probably a relief for some people because I know myself I gained a little ‘lockdown weight’! Tony is a self-employed joiner and owns TH Joinery so he was lucky he was able to work throughout our lockdowns, so in the end postponing was the best decision for us as he was still super busy.”

So in early 2020 (before the world went mad) you visited the Wedding Journal Show – how was that experience?

“Yes, this was really one of the first steps in planning for us! Tony and I were openminded, we were looking around for inspiration and ideas. Just walking through all the aisles, I fell in love with so many vendors and I really was in my element there! We were both very relaxed, so we knew we wanted a very relaxed and unique day. The Wedding Journal Show was the first time we came across the brand-new wedding venue, The Loft Templepatrick.”

“I personally wanted a venue we hadn’t been to before and somewhere that our guests maybe hadn’t ever been, and The Loft certainly caught us by surprise! Picture high vaulted ceilings, adorned with twinkling feature chandeliers, celebratory planting, and marble dining tables. After chatting to the wedding team at their stand, we both felt like this venue is one of a kind – I had a very special feeling about it!”

That’s what we love to hear! So after speaking with the team from The Loft, did you visit the venue in person?

“We did! Thankfully, back in February before lockdown happened, we were so lucky to meet Abby and take a look at The Loft Ceremony Show Room. It was amazing and that was only the showroom. It was everything we wanted and more – the luxurious marble tables, the soft pastel tones, the stunning lighting – every detail ticked each box on my ultimate checklist!

“At the time the venue was still getting work done to it, but as a creative person and Tony as a joiner we were both able to envision the final piece! We are dying to get back to the venue ASAP to take a look around because I guess we booked our wedding venue based on a computer-generated image of what it was supposed to look like! We were a little rebellious but we have so much trust in the team!”

So just 7 weeks to go until the big day! How did you get everything back on track again? 

“From we made the call in January to hold off up until the end of July, the excitement hadn’t set in with me at all. It just didn’t feel real. Clients kept asking ‘well are you excited?’ and I felt like I always had to put on a smile and say ‘YES!’. However, I soon realised that wasn’t the case and I shouldn’t be afraid to admit it. I chatted to other brides and that’s when I realised we were all in the same boat! I didn’t get those jittery nerves or well up thinking about marrying the man of my dreams and because I had this massive cloud over me. Week after week we listened to restrictions hoping for things to change. Tony got in touch with Abby from The Loft and asked her to jump on FaceTime for a chat. We sat for an hour talking about how I felt, and herself and Tony made it their mission to get me excited.”

“She reassured me things still felt normal at weddings and we had 12 weeks to go which meant lots of easing of restrictions and risk assessments changing. All along Abby has been a godsend – we text her at any time with questions or concerns and she brings us up to the venue to run through things. We could not have done this without her. The following week Tony set up a date night and made our favourite Greek gyros and patatas bravas! He set up a call with the owner of a villa we stayed in last year in Santorini and we sat chatting about honeymoon plans and planning different things to do while we were out there. It just made such a change talking to positive people and that’s when it all felt real!”

How many guests did you originally have planned Vs now? 

“Originally we planned for quite a big day maxing out all the venue numbers. We always knew it was going to include all of our friends and family and it would be a very laid-back vibe. For some reason if Abby told us 120 for the ceremony, I told myself 130 and if Abby told us 140 for the dinner, I said 150. This came back to bite me! I think I just got overly excited and kept adding numbers up in my head. Right now we are still planning for our original numbers and manifesting that happens!”

Do you have any advice for other brides-to-be out there whose plans are being disrupted during these difficult times? What would you say to them?

“If I could tell another bride anything, it would be to talk to other brides! Lots of people who aren’t planning a huge day can be negative without realising and I found it quite consuming. I shared my opinions with other brides and it was lovely to have reassurance that we were all in the same boat and figuring it out together.  One other thing I would say, which is easier said than done, is try to be positive and don’t put pressure on yourself. I came to accept that I was getting married in a pandemic. If I really wanted, I could put it off five years and do it when life was normal – however I don’t want to put my life on hold any longer and I want to have the best day no matter what! Hey, it will be one to tell the grandkids!”

For all the brides-to-be out there nervously counting down the days, just know you’re not alone. We’ve caught up with our resident beauty blogger Caitlyn Lendrum who’s going to take us on the complete journey from ‘YES’ to ‘I Do’, so buckle up and let’s get into it!

If you’re anything like us and are a big makeup lover, you’ve probably heard of Caitlyn who at just 24-years-old has built one of the most successful beauty empires in the country with her own makeup brand, accessories and much more.

Caitlyn tells us: “I started my career as a makeup artist a few years ago, not knowing where it would take me – fast forward to now and I’ve built a brand for myself, winning multiple beauty awards and growing my social media business into one of the best in Northern Ireland.

“I’m so excited to share my journey with all you WJ’s readers through the Bride Diaries and take you to the altar with me!”

Caitlyn & Tony

Before we get into the whirlwind of wedding planning, let’s find out more about the groom-to-be, Tony Hegarty – also known as T.

Caitlyn continues: “Before I dive right in, I want to tell you little more about my fiancé Tony. When people ask how Tony and I met, I always start by saying, ‘have you got five minutes?’ It’s a complicated story, I suppose it’s more of a 21st century romance.

“We were set up by my mum and his sister who thought we would be perfect for each other. The only thing stopping us actually meeting was 5,500 miles – no big deal!

“It all started back in August 2017. I was heading into town on a Saturday night after a long day of clients when I received a message from my mum in our family groupchat. She wrote, ‘My friend’s gorgeous brother sent you a friend request on Facebook – he has a fab job in California and you’ve not accepted yet…why?’”

Being a strong independent and career-driven woman, Caitlyn was more than happy being single, but sometimes love finds you when you least expect it and so, here we are – just weeks away from the big day!

She says: “I was 20 years old at the time and putting everything into my business and just enjoying going on nights out with the girls. Now, it’s important to remember I was out with my girls that night. I already had a couple of drinks at that point and the last thing on my mind was accepting a random guy on Facebook that my mum thought suited me.

“We all know they can either pick a winner (thank God she did) or it can be tragic. I found his request (through blurry eyes) but his name was spelt in Irish. I quickly replied to my mum ‘Catch a grip, I can’t even pronounce that.’ Which is why he’s now known as T; those Irish names are like tongue twisters!

“A few hours later I was standing at the bar, alone and bored, so of course I stalked every inch of his life. Within moments I knew he had lived in San Jose and New Zealand, he was working for Facebook in California and adored his family. I accepted him out of pure guilt because he now admits he deleted his request, re-added me twice and waited three weeks!

“Our first conversation is quite funny actually, I printed screenshots of it to put them in a scrap book for his first Valentines present. We started off chatting about life, our interests, our careers and our future and I instantly figured he was just what I needed. It’s tough because I’m so career driven, but I needed someone to help me build my empire, and he was just the one.”

Thank God for Facebook eh?! (and Caitlyn’s mum of course). So after hitting it off straight away, Caitlyn and Tony did six months of long distance, before Tony finally moved home in 2018.

The Proposal

Fast forward two and a half years later, Caitlyn and Tony have been through it all from buying their dream home to getting their first fur baby, Rocco. So, the only thing left to do was put a ring on it – and of course Tony pulled out all the stops!

Caitlyn says: “WOW. It really seems like forever ago now talking about the proposal – back when we were carefree and able to travel! I really am so grateful Tony was able to do his dream proposal before Covid.

“Back in September 2019 we headed off to my absolute favourite place in the world, Dubai. After spending a day at the beach in 40-degree heat, the last thing on my mind was to blow-dry my hair and get glam!

“Tony had the day planned for months – he had asked my parents, he designed the ring with my mum and strategically planned getting the ring to Dubai safely. All he now needed was to get me to dinner.

“We arrived at the stunning gardens of the Ritz Carlton for an intimate dinner over water. Tony is an old romantic so the beautiful candlelit dinner, red carpet and rose petals didn’t scream proposal to me – I think that’s why he was able to really surprise me!

“We talked a little about the week ahead of us then Tony offered to get my outfit picture (so me!). That’s when I turned to see him on his knee behind me holding a rock! I just remember continuously saying ‘Are you sure?’ ‘Are you sure?’ I was just so shocked that someone ACTUALLY wanted to make me their wife!”

Ready, Set, Plan!

Of course this was all pre-pandemic, so after Caitlyn and Tony flew back home to celebrate with family and friends, they threw themselves into wedding planning only for Covid to enter the chat…and well, we all know how that one goes.

“So let’s address the obvious – its August 2021 and we aren’t married yet!” Caitlyn says. “After the proposal, we came home and we were going at 100 miles per hour. We picked our bridal party in February and booked our date and venue in March, completely oblivious to what was coming next.

“April came around and we were one year out from the wedding as our original date was 30th April 2021 and the world was on halt. However, we are now eight weeks out as we decided to put the date off six months to 22^nd October in the hope it would bring us some ease, yet it hasn’t really at all!

“It’s a tough one planning for something that can be taken away so easily. At the moment, we’re watching the news and waiting for wedding restrictions to ease and for risk assessments to change. As of the month of August, I was pretty negative about it all.

“However, I am now in a much more positive frame of mind and I’ve decided I’m not listening to negative opinions or feeding into rumours. Instead, I’m letting myself get excited and feel like a bride-to-be for once!

“We’ve just had a meeting with the lovely Abby from The Loft, our chosen venue, to go through all the final details and set our plan in place. Prior to this, I had booked everything, bought the dresses, organised my bride tribe but still felt all over the place.

“Although now the day has some structure, there’s a massive weight off my shoulders and it’s all finally hit me… I’m getting married in 60 days!”
